Went to lake Bridgeport, standing water everywhere. Clerk at the store this morning said he had just over 1" outside Bridgeport. Must have got less the farther North the storm was.

On the way home HWY 144 closed, a semi hauling liquid gas rolled and was leaking:( Took the long way home....

Must have spent to much time in the heat, cleaned the boat and the fish and passed out on the couch. Caught one nice Hybrid striper (24", 8.25lbs) and few sand bass for the table.

Woke up at 5:14am to severe thunder and hail, don't know where this little storm came from. Ended up with another 1", BlueRiver must have turned on his irrigation??:) Only bad part about the deal, yes I forgot to roll up my truck window yesterday:confused::eek:

Tried to "copy" from NOAA, but for some reason couldn't, the storm popped up and only covered maybe 1/4 of Wise County.

Yeahaaaw! Lots of thunder & lighting and then a good 1/2 inch of rain and some pretty good wind. I had a few small limbs down on the way out to get the paper this morning.

Dennis can you leave your truck windows down again tonight?

Dennis, I woke up just after 2:30 a.m. to as big a lightning show as I've ever seen. My wife said the City's Code Red system had called with a severe thunderstorm warning. I came in here and looked at the radar and it showed the severe weather going right along the east side of I-35E and I live just off the west side of I-35E. Didn't get a drop of rain this time.:(

Dennis, I watched the storm blob on the radar last night as it moved down from Wichita Falls toward Wise Co. I could tell that it was going south of me. All I got was a free light show and sound effects.:(

I'll put down the passenger side since the drivers side got it pretty good:laughing::laughing::laughing: Glad I bought a plain jane truck this time around, no carpet:thumbsup:

Jim, the one from Jack co may have been the one that got me, not big coverage wise, but packed a punch.

Bird, after watching the news last night, I figured you'd be the one with all the rain last night? I had counted my chance from slim to none.

Dennis,
Do Texan's use the method we do up here of fighting to sit in the middle,
so we won't be the one that has to get out in the rain to open the gate?

And after getting none last night and not expecting any today; we got about .84" between 9 and 11 a.m. this morning.:) May or may not get more today.

 yeah heard that one before, I personally hate gates, I prefer a cattle guard with optional gate. But that saying you quoted, is pretty accurate:laughing:

Thats the way it was for me, didn't expect it. At least you weren't left "high and dry" .84 is respectable when its getting this dry. The deer have already started coming in the back yard begging for food.

Dennis, our rain came and went at different times, but I figure I got 1.24" total today.

And speaking of gates . . . on one trip to Alaska many years ago, we turned off the main road in British Columbia to go to a campground for the night and noticed some signs with a distance to a "Texas Gate". We didn't know what they were talking about until we got there and it was just a cattle guard; no other gate. I don't know if the Canadians still call cattle guards "Texas Gates" or not.

Alot of wind after midnight ... limbs, branches and two trees down ... the gauge showed 6/10th ... North in Coalgate 1.2 inches ... put out Urea today at 150 lbs to the acre and the forecast shows a repeat of last night ... I'll take the rain ... hope for less wind.

Do you ever add any P and K to your soil?

Bird, looks like you will get a good one this evening, Jim and I likely will get some of it too, but not what it appears like on radar for you..

NWS shows Denton got .50" before midnight and .42" since. My gauge shows .50" total overnight and we may still get more today. I love it.:)

That's great Bird! No wind/hail damage?

I have just over .80 so far with what looks like a bit more on the way. We have runoff finally, but not what I would expect with over 3-1/2" over 3 days, must have been really dry.

Dennis thanks for leaving that passenger window of your truck down......it worked. We had a little thunder and lighting an not as much wind and we have a 1/4 inch at 6:30. It is still raining nice & steady so we're hoping for more. This will give the garden and the hay a nice kick.

Yesterday when I went to town there were lots of branches from dead trees on our FM road. All of those dead trees from last year that are still standing will be a problem for a while when the wind kicks up. I doubt DOT will come through and take them down.

Charlie, just doing my "fair share":laughing::D

Funny you mention the trees falling, that has been my biggest concern (not considering a tornado) with theses storms. On the news last night, Jacksboro Texas lost power due to high winds taking out trees and power poles. I have many dead standing trees.

Also on the news last night, a boy was killed helping a neighbor cut down a tree somewhere in the DFW metro-mess, tree fell on the boy. Sad thing and preventable.

Side note...Actually got my little yard mowed yesterday afternoon:thumbsup: went a bit slow though. Your hay ought to really come alive with this rain and the warm temps:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I got another 1/2" total before/after midnight. We had some outflow wind gusts, but nothing serious. It would seem that I'm only allowed to get 1/2" at a time, but I'll gladly take it. Our rain has fallen so slowly that I can measure runoff in teaspoons.;)

Yesterday we ended up with 3/8 total. I'll take it. Cool this morning 61* really nice.
