Tornado near Milsap! No rain or tornado here yet, but lots of thunder and lightening. Earlier this week, weatherman said "chance of rain, but no chance of severe stuff". I still say I need to get my hands of the weathermen, and wring their necks!

And y'all, I was out playing with my JD 1050, getting it ready for more work, when this stuff hit. If I had known I might get some rain playing with my tractor, I'd have been doing that, NOT washing my truck, all along.

Bad weather on both Jim and Farmgirl right now, you guy's let us know your OK. The severity is certainly a surprise, 5 tornado warnings so far

   / Texas Spring/Summer Thread #1,466
Pea sized to dime sized hail, right now. I want and need the rain, but the rest of it, I could certainly do without. Thanks for asking, Western. Will check in again soon.

stay safe,y'all. all that is far from me now...got .3 inches last night...dry ground again already.

Good so far Farmgirl, it 's right on top of Weatherford right now!!

Wife spoke to a girl she worked with, who lives in Mineral Wells, they said they roof is destroyed from HUGE hail! All I have had so far is a few showers move through. Large violent storms North and South of me right now.

Hoping Jim's wish for "no hail" is what he's getting..no hail

Dime and pea sized hail is all I got; very little of either with mostly rain. 1-1/2" in one gage and slightly less in another that isn't level. I can see that water went across my beans in a couple of spots in the garden, but mostly the plants are happy. This deep watering should be a gigantic kick-start. I worked for two hours tying up my tomatoes to the stakes today and it paid off because the tomatoes didn't get blown around. So far this has been all good. If we get more, I'll be even happier. My ponds need a lot of runoff.

Thanks ocne again, Western! About the time the hail quits and you think it might be gone for good, it begins again. Now up to nickle sized. Rain is coming down though, so that is a plus. My rain gauge in the front is leaning a little, due to some winds. Not going out to stand it up in the hail though. It is showing an inch, just in the last half an hour. My stock tank needs the runoff. My back door doormat is washed halfway down the sidewalk. I'll pull it back up when the hail moves away!

Great to hear you guy's, somehow I must have missed Farmgirls dance:laughing: I have around 3/4" had a handful of pea size hail, but it was minor.

Some of us will be fortunate to just get much needed rain, some will have some bad damage the way the reports are coming in.

Farmgirl, without showing your address:D bout what part of Parker Co are ya, relative to Weatherford?

DAM Now a tornadoe NE of Decatur!!!!!! Jim, where is Bird in all this???

   / Texas Spring/Summer Thread #1,472
Western; I am just a few miles south of Weatherford, and a few east of Brock.

Yep, you missed the dance. Maybe next time I'll wear clothes, so they don't get so mad!

I just checked my rain gauge out back, and it shows 1 3/4 inches. I have a window that the rain is leaking around, but I can get that fixed, easily enough, if that is all the problems that I have.

The city's Code Red automated system called on the phone a few minutes ago to say strong winds and severe weather coming; to be prepared to take cover. So far, the heavy stuff shows on radar to be both north and south of us. We're just getting a very light rain, so we'll keep our fingers crossed and hope.

So far we have all been relatively fortunate. Not so good in Granbury, they're saying injuries and damage from that tornado! 40 homes hit, some leveled.

And I watered the garden this afternoon thinking I was getting short changed........ again:laughing: We need it for sure, but without all the "bells and whistles"

So you wasted water too, huh? I watered several things today too. All my rows are on raised beds. I look down at my garden and can see standing water between rows and it slowly runs off to very little standing water. The plants will get watered from the bottom up and hopefully put down deeper roots.

We are in an area that keeps having small storms move over and each one drops 1/4" or more. I'm approaching 2" total and the largest hail I've seen in the last hour is pea sized, but not much of that. Mostly I'm just getting good rain. THANK YOU LORD!

Farmgirl19, I'm glad you dodged the worst of it, but sorry about your nickel sized hail. That will hurt young plants. Also, your tender squash plants with large kite leaves may have some broken stems right at the ground level. Of course, I hope not. We all want and need rain, but the devastation some folks are seeing is horrible. The storm near Weatherford and the DeCordova area storm have done some damage. There seems to be some heavy activity in the south of the metroplex, but the storms look like they are weakening.

Earlier tonight I watched a wall cloud and saw the rotation and lowering of the cloud. Later they reported a tornado just north of me. I think that was it, but it never touched the ground. It was responsible for my first rain and light hail though.

I wasted water too! Right now, there is lightening beginning to the west again, and thunder getting louder. I'd take even more rain, but am not going to bed until this next wave moves over, or moves away.

I know, can't do anything about it, even if I am up, but after all that has happened, just can't go to bed yet.

I'm glad to know everyone in our loop is safe, and I really appreciate y'all caring about me too. I love my friends that live in my computer!

Yes Ma'am, I texted a buddy that lives on the side where the tornado was, he is underground with his daughters. Reports so far are extensive damage, no doubt, that is HUGE.
