Brandi, actually SHE is an 8 year old Chihuahua; the only dog I've ever known that's never learned to growl or snarl, loves all humans, just looking for new friends and attention. If you hurt her, she'll try to get away, but she will not fight or bite.

Here's a picture of her when we first got her. No one put her up on my shoulder; that's just where she'd climb to, to nap. And the second picture is more recent, after she became overweight like me.

She is cute, bird! But you know what they say.....

"If your dog is overweight, YOU are not getting enough exercise!"

WATCH: Daring rescue as firefighters pluck construction worker from 5-alarm fire in residential building under construction in Houston* - NY Daily News

Dramatic fire rescue in Houston yesterday.

I spoke with a couple of firefighters this weekend. The Mayor had already started to brownout (close temporary) some fire stations because of lack of Firefighters. I do not know if there was a brownout yesterday. Houston's economics is doing good but the Firefighters and Mayor are in a battle.

Don,
Today's news says there were no brownouts. Also stated was if there was a brownout, Station 6's ladder would have been the first station to brownout. Station 6 is one mile away from the fire and it's ladder was used in the 4th floor rescue.
Houston is falling apart at the seems, I think. Bad roads and fire station brownouts are only two of the money problems. Bad water main leaks are common now.
Glad I just "work" there.
hugs, Brandi

Greetings!

Thought I would introduce myself her since we are in Texas! My wife and I just bought 97 acres of land in Thicket Texas and starting to plan the build out. We live in Houston now, but my daughter has been involved raising heifers through FFA and we have all caught the country bug! (I know y'all are shaking your heads about the darn city-folk moving out to the country...). Right now land is timber plantation with no improvements on it so we have our work cut out for us. It is gorgeous with a small creek/bayou running though the lower third with tall cypress and other hardwoods

Plan is build the "guest" house first, then a barn and finally the main house. First job will be to put a culvert and driveway in. I have been inspired by Eddie's build out, but not sure I am ready to adopt a pig yet...

Jisgren, Welcome to TBN and the Texas Seasonal thread. You are right where I was 20 years ago - A planed escape from Houston with a chunck of new raw land and a dream. It'a all good!

Drove from ranch to Brownsville yesterday for a meeting at shipyard this morning. Returned this afternoon thru off an on showers most of the way. Arrived back at ranch at 4:30 PM and had about 1/2" in the rain gauge.

Was listening to Houston KTRH radio this morning all the way down in Brownsville. Michael Berry was talking to the HFD Captain that was at top of the ladder rescuing the trapped construction worker. The HFD ladder truck was returning from another call and was closest unit when fire call came in. If they had not been there the result would probably been way different. This was a case when minutes and seconds counted.
