Officially too small already. It is only 16x32 with 12' shed roof on both sides. Eventually it will be the saw mill shed when I put the larger barn in. Got the plans from Barnplans [Blueprints, Gambrel Roof, Barns, Homes, Garage Workshops, Dormer Window, Cupola]. This is actually a trial run for a 24'x48' barn style cabin.

Great plan! Are you going to insulate?

My barn at home is 30x40 with sheds on both sides and insulated 10' roll up doors on each end. Amazed at how cool it stayed in the summer. The sheds are real handy. The day I brought my tractor home a big thunderstorm opened up and I just parked under the shed trailer and all. (Pic)

Out on the land, my 20x30 small barn isn't insulated and only one door. Big difference in how hot it gets. I would highly recommend 2 doors. You can leave one shut almost all times but it's really nice to open the other up for some cross wind.

Now my problem is I've got the tractor in my bigger equipment barn (50x30) and it looks tiny. Shrinkage big time! Gotta get a bigger tractor... ;)

Both of my ponds have developed pond green "scum" on the surface. This with my normal measures or cornmeal and dye in controlling algae in place. I threw out more pond dye today and I can't see it now, as the scum is floating on top of it all. Any quick ideas? A couple of days ago, the island pond looked inviting enough to swim in.

It needs airflow .. Either a pumping system to recirculate or put you brush hog on the tractor back the hog into the water .. And stir it up.

Or run your horse through it.:D

The larger pond has cleared up. The smaller pond seems to be fighting it, but I think needs more measures. It was aerated, until the compressor broke, dumped some oil in the line, and killed off the catfish and perch. Some cats were around 6 pounds. The oil left when we got over 5 inches of rain and the pond overflowed.
If it isn't one thing, it's another.

Always .. One thing after another .. Then it's just one more thing!!!

I have a pair of

Canadian geese that keep coming and going from my new puddle ponds. They stop at my deer feeder for some corn and then lounge around my ponds most of the day. I suspect they are eating minnows, but don,t know for sure. Last year they stayed until temps were regularly above 100 F

Here's wishing everybody a safe Memorial Day.

Bought some St. Louis Style Ribs for this week end. Just Denise & I, no kids or Grandkids so that makes for a quiet 3 days. Looking forward to a little relaxing and maybe some rain the first part of next week. The wind that we've had has things pretty dry again. With the warmer nights and days the garden is starting to show some promise of "busting out".

Again, hope everyone has a good and safe Holiday and remembers our Veterans and especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice for us. God Bless America.

Amen. And I hope you're right about rain this coming week, but I fertilized the yard today and have a couple of sprinklers going anyway.

Looks like rain and Mr Delkus says my area could get between 1"-2" YEAH RIGHT

Been picking snap (contender) beans, got 2 rows done and 3 more to go. Got about 3/4 of a 5g bucket so far and my back is killing me, even sitting down. Got over a 5g bucket of crookneck this morning. Dont know what is wrong with my onions, most fell over and look like crap?

Posted this in the :How does your garden grow" thread, but figured I'd show off here too:D

Looks great Dennis! My garden was just barely growing until we got that 3" rain over a week ago. Back to watering.

I'm bringing the family up to Grapevine area tomorrow to visit family. We'll be headed back south on Sunday.

Has anyone ever been to the Fort Worth Zoo? Is it worth the price of admission? Crowded?

Maybe it'll rain and the whole zoo thing will have to be put off.

Been awhile since I have been to that zoo, but it gets great reviews all the time. I dont know if you can call it "crowded", like the San Diego zoo, but this weekend, every thing will be crowded:laughing:

The Ft. Worth zoo is great, but not as good as the San Antonio zoo. The kiddos will love it.
