The San Diego Zoo was supposedly the best in the nation and I visited it in January, 1974. I guess they had more animals, but I liked the San Antonio Zoo more. The Ft. Worth Zoo has always been good. We took our daughters there when they were little (40 years ago or more). But we also took my wife's sister from WV to the Ft. Worth Zoo a year ago last October.

The last time we visited the Dallas Zoo was in 1989 and it was so bad that I thought it should have been shut down. However, under new management, I understand it's been greatly improved, and I just saw a TV news story this past week that it may be one of the top zoos in the nation now. The TV news man did stop to comment that the Ft. Worth Zoo has always been a good one.

Posted this in the :How does your garden grow" thread, but figured I'd show off here too:D

Dennis--Good looking produce. With the warmer nights and the rain the garden is finally looking presentable. The tomato vines a looking good and already lots of setting fruit, so now it gets exciting. I did have to water a little yesterday and will probably have to do some more today, but will keep it to a minimum in hopes of rain.

Surprise-Surprise. Just went outside to get the paper and we've got a little light drizzle.......I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Charlie, the last few times I waited for rain, I got smuckered:laughing: We have been watering something everyday.

We are now in the "Exceptional" drought area, so any rain is welcome.

Since it's supposed to rain in the next few days, and the tread was getting a bit worn on our tires, I just came back from Discount Tire where I had all new tires put on both vehicles. That'll probably scare the rain off. And besides that I've got a sprinkler going in the back yard.

Jim, I think you need to call Mr Delkus and see if you can work out some kind of arrangement, only .18 here so far?

For a while the rain looked promising, but now it looks like it will miss us.

Whoooo-weeee we're getting dumped on down here. 3 inches between 4:30 a.m. and noon. Still raining and the radar is showing us sitting under a huge cell. Rain in the forecast for the next three days. Next storms predicted for Saturday and Sunday. We need it, so I'll gladly take it.

Yeah we are getting some good rain here now also

Hopefully this will at least put a dent in the short term deficit, for those fortunate to get it.

Got over 5" in Hondo today.

Been missing most of the rain so far. Looks like a cell just west of Abilene is on its way. Hope it's not too severe and doesn't fall apart like the others have.

Ground is cracked pretty badly.

Rain has stopped. We ended with 3.6" since this morning. More is forecast for tonight and tomorrow, and potentially Wednesday-radar showing storms firing up in Mexico headed to Eagle Pass. We'll take it. It's like we can literally watch the grass grow, and things are green.

Over 2 inches here this afternoon and climbing, as it is still raining heavy. Large pond is full. Small pond needs 3 more inches.

I got about .05" yesterday, a trace today; just enough to turn the windshield wiper on, but since I've got to take my wife to the hospital for a little surgery tomorrow, I figure that's when we'll get that 70% that forecast. But we'll be glad enough to see rain that I won't mind driving in it.

Dang Bird,
That's not enough to even wash the windshield with.
Hope Y'all get that 70% tomorrow.

Time to build another pond. Well, past time. Had enough rain today to fill another pond. Today we had 2.5 inches rain with rain forecasts the rest of the week with 60% or greater. I scoped out the perfect spot today when it was pouring. I just have to move a gully over 75 feet or so. Nothing to it but time and fuel $$$$.
hugs, Brandi
