Sorry to hear about that Brandi, we went through the same thing last year with our beloved "ladybird". She was our old white German shepherd with bad hips.

I had a registered $$$, white German Shepherd before I married. He ran off when my brother (with a cast on his leg, didn't close the gate fast enough and never looked for him. Since then, my best pets have been mixed breeds.

Brandi, God bless you for ending Booger's suffering. He was a loyal friend and deserved only the best.

Booger was my constant companion outside and truly was a tractor and project dog. He was always laying nearby when I worked the tractor or anything outside. If he was sitting when I drove by on the tractor, I knew to stop, lower the bucket, get off, and pet him.

Brandi, I wonder if the vet considered splenic hemangiosarcoma? This happened to one of our dogs and it has the symptoms you described. The only way our vet found it at the time is, I asked for a autopsy. She died in my arms with my daughter there,,,,,,, was a bad day.

I had to ask my wife what it was since it's a medical word and I am a "simple man".

ohh brandi --- so sorry....but sometimes putting them to sleep is just the right thing to do for them..even as it hurts us.

Brandi-- I don't want anything but a mixed-breed, they make the best dogs. I've had 6 over the last 20 yrs and they were all great family dogs, good with kids and babies yet good security around the house, and they were all a whole lot smarter than the over-bred pure breeds that I've had. I'll take a Mutt every time.

If your Family has been in Texas like mine for a lot of Generations then your probably a mixed breed too: Cherokee, Welsh, German, & English and who knows what else. So yeah we're Mutts too.

Sorry to hear about this, Brandi. It's a tough decision, but the right decision. No reason to let Booger suffer. My thoughts go out to you. Booger had a great life. Think of the happy days.

Sorry to hear about your loss of Booger.
It is always a sad time but then when your ready it is such a joy to get a new dog that will love you from
day one.
We used to have fancy breeds but so many are too closely bred or have hip and joint problems from their size.
We now get our dogs at the shelter. Always a great choice and with the shots and neutering included you can't beat the price.
And talk about instant love; they seem to know that you have saved them from being euthanized like the other 80-90% of the dogs there will be.
There is a guy that posts on TBN that has a saying, like: " If only I could be the person my dog thinks I am."
That says it all.
