We got 1/4 inch yesterday evening, but a lot of thunder and lightning to the west. A friend from Church email me that he got 1/2 inch and some small hail in 20 minutes over in Alba. I sure hope we can avoid the hail as my tomato plants are still young and tender and I would hate for them to get beat up.

Sell both buy new bigger, that usually helps:D
View attachment 420407 We have the diesel 60"

They are huge, but very nice!

I did not intend to get a new one but things happened fast. Mike snapped up the JD and the next week the craftsman (wife's choice to keep) stopped, so at her suggestion (see guys how this works) we are getting a new Z. I made sure Mike was totally happy with the JD, he is, so now the big decision.

I wanted a Hustler flip-up Raptor but they won't be here till August. Next top two Hustler Fastrak or Kubota Kommander. Both priced about the same, both 54". Both have the same transmission Hydro-grear ZT3100. Hustler has 23hp Kawasaki, Kommander has a 25hp Kohler made for Kubota. Both 4 year warranty. This weekend both hopefully will get a wife test drive. I'll have to post this in the Lawn section also for any advice.

Both those are nice mowers,I couldn't say what engine is better have had both. The Xmark I had,had the Kawasaki plenty of power and no problems. I have also had the Kohlers without any issues. I like the looks of the kommander and it has the lights.

Don,
I have the Huslter Fastrac in 52 inch deck, with the 17 or 18 hp Honda engine. I was steered away from the Kawasaki engine. I bought mine back in 2005 or 2006 (strange how the numbers are getting fuzzier) and have tried to tear up the deck going around trees and basically trying to "weed eat" around the trees, I get so close. The deck is still strong as ever.

Yes they are neat, but now the production which was suppose to be out by last month is LATE August. You have a jewel with that Honda motor, none of the Zs available out here have a Honda motor, they are Kawasaki, Kohler, or Briggs in the mid range Zs.

The flip-up is a step down from what I'm looking at and a step up from my Craftsman and sufficient for my yard. List price on the 54" flip-up is $4,999, you pay $1000 more than the regular Raptor for the flip. But I really like it.

The classification I have is looking at the transmissions;
Low - Hydrogear EZT (sealed)
Mid - Hydrogear ZT2800 to ZT3100
High - Hydrogear ZT 3400 up PK, PY, Danfloss

Of course it gets fuzzy with the frames and engines in the different models with upgrades.

What happened to the Craftsman?

It stopped and then I fixed it one last time. This time it was an easy fix the grounding wire came loose - but I did not figure that out till I had it apart and about to replace the starter again, but the gear was not broke, but it would spin like it was. I guess not quite enough electric flow with the loose connection. Running good now - time to trade it in. I have become an expert repair man with the craftsman - I'm looking forward to retiring with these 4 year warranties.

Forget any zero turn transmission/motors that are sealed. I have that now and is the only big ticket gotcha that has gotten me. I could not find any rebuild kits for them. But for $1000-1100 I could have a new one. My dealer had one installed in a customer's mower that was never picked it up and gave me a huge discount on it of $800. I just had to remove it (in his shop on his lift with his fan turning). Better is transmission/motors with filters and changeable fluid.

I love the Honda engine. Never have replaced anything but oil, filter, and cleaned the air filter. Now plugs in over 360 hours over 9-10 years. Just wish the Hustler had mud tires instead of turf tires.
