Texas Spring/Summer Thread

Finally had a chance to read and catch up with my Texas neighbors !! Great reading, Thanks !!!

Our county is listed in "Moderate Drought" conditions, Bermuda grass pastures are brown ... Bahia is holding on !! Started feeding hay at the home place.

Shop has been extremely busy and taking up alot of time ... not a bad thing. Been burning alot of rods, using alot of wire and plasma cutting alot of parts.

Everyone have a great Holiday !!! I'll be in the shop ... 2 units to finish and ship this week !!

Glad to hear your doing well. Wish I could send you some of my rain. I'm digging out my pond and right now, the rains are are shooting holes in my time off.
Some dumb bird dumped a lot of mud catfish eggs into both ponds. I have thousands of them about 1.75 inches long. So now I have drained the island pond while digging it out. I put a dog bisquit in my minnow trap and overnight the trap was completely full with the little devils. Please tell the white cranes to come see me and have a feast.

Getting a lot of "Labor" in this weekend. With 2 weeks of rain, our 8 acres of "yard" around the house got completely out of hand. It's even too high for my 84" rear finish mower so, hooked up the 6' cutter behind the LS. It looks like crap but at least not 18" high now. Will have to recut with the RFM next week.





Got shutdown by more rain just after noon.

I would call that a lush hay meadow.. How many bales can you get each year?

Thanks, we built the Ranch House in the middle of a former pasture. Managed to place house with no tree removal.

Too many post oak and live trees to mess with hay. It's a PIA even to mow. Have to use the ZT under most trees.

Rick, we are in the same boat. My 25 hp PTO won't hardly touch it with a shredder. Waiting to get the 6' bushhog repaired for the bigger tractor. The stuff I knocked down last weekend has already sprouted up 10". Well at least the weeds have come up that much...

I have found if you don't mow it will only get about 4-5' tall and then stop. Then when it's all tall it looks uniform, like it's mowed if you have a good imagination like I do, but the trees look shorter and I keep loosing Whipper.

The deer seem shorter also.
