Pretty dry here too even though we got about 2.5" of rain over 5 days about 2-3 weeks ago.
Record tying heat expected today-Wed but next Mon-Wed they are predicting some low chances of rain and temps under 100.

My Spartan ZT mower has numbers on the height dial and a few weeks ago I decided to measure blade height to see how close it is compared to the dial and the blades were lower by about 1/2-3/4". I thought I was mowing close to 3" or 3-1/2" but wasn't. I set the dial above 4 and it seems to have really helped the grass stay greener and not seeing as much ground cracking yet.

The drought here is starting to remind me of the 3 year drought back 2010-2011ish.
Our town is on stage 4 drought water restrictions. One of the wells broke down, they are drilling a new well and they said it would be about 120 days. The other wells are not keeping up with demand.

My daughter talked me into going to the Black Hills to escape the heat. I have been wanting to go for years. So we took 8 days at the end of July and headed for 79 degree days. One day it got up to 87. Numerous times I was asked.....Sure is hot, isn't it? I would say Nope. They would look at me strange.........then I would reply...........I'm from TEXAS. Mt Rushmore doesn't conpare at all to the Crazy Horse Memorial. I need to go back and spend more time in their Indian museum and displays. Found this A-4 "Scooter" off of I90 East of Rapid City near Ellsworth AFB. We even broke down (Rebecca's car) in Cosmos Mystery Area parking lot with a broken thansmission cable. Go figure.

I've been there a bunch. We lived in the opposite corner of the state, but cousins near Sturgis. Dad is USAF retired, so Ellsworth was always visited for commissary and BX purchases. I still have a pair of jump boots we got there over 40 years ago

Glad you had fun. I think of SD as a colder version of Texas.

I feel it. In San Antonio right now. My wife is doing a work thing down here until our house is finished. My bald head does not like it!

It is much drier here though than where we are. Lots of small grass fires near the highways.
