I could use another freeze. We saw 2 large mosquitoes buzzing around a couple of days ago.
Yep, it's completely false that freezing weather kills mosquitos! They come back stronger after it.

The prediction is for rain Saturday, hope they are right!

It's bone dry here in the Bastrop area, got maybe a quarter inch of moisture during our one week of winter. Accumulation of the sleet and ice.

We've had no significant rain since early November.
Howdy neighbor! We got 3/4” from the last rain/ice event, east of town area.
Our tank ran dry down in Gonzales County some weeks ago. However, last week it had a little water in it. I was told that some areas down there may have had up to 1.5” plus a little ice.
Bundle up one week, shorts and t-shirt the next. Only in Texas! Trees have buds.

They said 'back at the ranch' they got 'a little over 1/2" which is quite a bit less than we need but a lot more than we could have gotten. We are blessed.

Rub it in guys!!! Actually, I miss the Texas Bluebells in the spring.

You can really make us all envious when you let us know they are out. (Photos or it didn't happen!)
Good times staying in Texas during spring time. Waiting for this year’s photos of Blue Bonnets

Definitely need another freeze. When mosquitoes, moths, crane flies etc
start showing up in Feb......what's April May & June gonna be like?
We're in a moderate drought w/ a county burn ban. My burn pile
keeps getting bigger. Need the rain, but then that makes the ground to
wet to work. If it's not one thing it's another. Kinda sounds like farm life.
Earlier summer starts sooner the peak of the bugs pass, the more it rained the more it create stagnant water and the more it make mosquitoes... the places that has the most amount of mosquitoes is the northern tundra / swamp land despite having the longest and coldest winters... if only it be true that long winter would keep them away longer I would love our summer a lot more.

We only got 1/2 inch. Disappointing, but very grateful for that much.
Still praying for more.

The Athens airport automated weather observation system reported we got 0.7" of rain on Saturday. We are about 6 miles north of the airport so pretty close to us. We only had 1 short burst of heavy rain then some steady light stuff, not the 1"-2" that was predicted.
