Mahindra 3015
Greetings,

My new Mahindra 3015 HST with FEL should be arriving at my dealer in the next week. I also have a 5ft Bush Hog Squealer in the package.

My question is related to what tools, etc I should have on hand
for (my ifrst) tractor. I am using it primarily to mow 9 of 60 acres on weekend property and currently have very few tools on hand there. So, if I needed to load a tool box with the "essentials" for maintaining my tractor to keep on site, what would your recommendations be?

Thanks in advance.

Brian

Congrats! Welcome to the Mahindra family.

My 6500 actually came with a few tools... a big socket wrench for tightening the bigger bolts. I haven't looked at it that close but there may be a couple of wrenches in the tool box. I wasn't that concerned because I have a bunch of bigger tools anyway.

The first thing I purchased was an air grease gun. If you have an air compressor this will be a handy tool because there are about 20 or so grease points. Go ahead and pick up a case of grease tubes.

When you get your manual you should probably just check it for all the different adjustments you'll need to make and see what size tools you'll need. Same thing for the cutter... you'll need to adjust the clutch and tighten the blades every so often - see manual.

You will need a set of metric tools and some blue loc-tite.
The loc-tite will be use for those bolts that keep vibrating out.
THe most important is grease and a grease gun.
Pick up some fuel conditioner and run some in it every now and then.

Congrats on the purchase!

I would say a wrench set and a good grease gun would be the most useful. I have a 10 inch adjustable wrench and that is what I use the most on it for tightening the tunrbuckles on the 3 pt. You could probably get away with a set of adjustable wrenches for just about everything. Some pliers might be useful occasionally but not that often.

The tractor is metric but the FEL is standard as it is made by Kansas Machine Works.

I wouldn't worry too much about the bolts wiggling loose unless you are getting really aggressive with the FEL. I had to really beat my 2615 up to get my FEL bolts to loosen up. But that was after 100 hours of use and digging out a lot of dirt and stumps. You still need to check them every so often.

It is useful to go around the whole tractor and check all the hyrdraulic fittings as some of those may not be as tight as you would want and the dealer may miss one or two.

I use a gas powered leaf blower to clean out the engine compartment. After cutting the fields you will get a lot of seeds and dust in the engine and radiator that need to be blown out.

Have fun with your new toy. I really enjoy mine.

Does he need a hammer or a "coersion device?" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I just use my adjustable wrench - makes a pretty good "coersion device" and has worked fine so far.

First get plenty of replacement rings. Look at the trctor when you pick it up there is a ring with a bar going across it used to hold various things on, get a dozen of them to start. My MMM uses alot of hair pin type retainers, get plenty of them too. Get a set of metric socket, adjustable wrench and some screw drivers.

My 2615 has lost many of it d-rings and hair pins. The FEL subframe worked its way loose in under 15 hours. Down by your right foot (while setting on the tractor) is a hydraulic manafold with a few banjo type fitting, one of those worked loose at about 60hrs.

I have the 2615 4WD w/ FEL and was wondering if you use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts when they get loose. Or, do you just tighten them down snug?

I popped an E-Clip off a bucket pin within the first hour of use. It was the pin that also holds the lower end of the level indicator. Fortunately, I noticed it before damaging the level indicator rod. I picked up a dozen E-Clips the next day.

Later,

BR

When my FEL bolts wiggled loose, I cleaned them up and re-torqued them with some red threadlocker. No apparent movement in the last 20 hours or so but I haven't been using the FEL that much. I was really using it a lot before.
