There's a thread on "lawn and garden" about the worst piece of equipment you've ever owned. My wife tells me I need to be more positive. (I'm positive she's trying to give me an anurism.... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif) SO...What's the best "thing" you've ever owned. Regardless of what it is/was, what item did you buy that just re-wrote the standards for "GREAT" in your mind?

I've got a few that sorta end up tied for #1. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

A 1981 Cub Cadet 682 garden tractor, my current favorite tractor, a 1978 John Deere 2440, a 1984 Toyota 4WD pick-up, and a Black & Decker 7-1/4" SUPER SAWCAT circular saw. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

When it's all said and done, the Cub Cadet has outlasted anything I've ever owned. SO... By default, it wins the GOLD STAR! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Could I qualify a Nissan car or is this only for tractors?

I have a Cub Cadet 1862 that is built like a tank (I know that because the lovely Mrs_Bob hit the house with it) and it still runs like it was brand new.

I had a Volvo 240DL. That car was ugly but amazingly reliable. I had it so long I finally got rid of it because I got tired of it. I think we had it for over 10 years. Never went to the shop for anything other than routine maintainence items. Probably still out there somewhere???

My DeWalt reciprocating saw. It's 7 years old and has been beat to snot but keeps on chugging. I use it for wood frame demolition, cutting out old plumbing, removing rusted hardware...whenever I seem to be stuck as to "how do I want to remove this...?" The sawzall comes to mind. I wouldn't start a project without it nearby.

I don't know if I own her, but she was given to me to take care of?? Yep it's my wife. That is the best thing I have going for me right now. No I don't treat her like a piece of equipment. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif But she is always there for me and always stands by my side.

I have to say this quietly, as she is in the kitchen and might dispute the ownership aspect if she hears me...

She's the best of the best...(still not sure who owns who though... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif )

As for mechanical things, I would have to say my old BMW motorcycle. I was the 7th owner and it was 8 years old, but still managed to carry me on a 14,000 one way trip east out of Pittsburgh...over some pretty rugged territory. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
