Generally speaking I don't understand why somebody would try to change my options,

Most people that never worked in sales, would try to convince the other... A good salesman tries to give his customers all available options and then talk him into the easy manufacturing way that will be most beneficial for all parties (less risk and more profit for factory and better value for money for customers, so customer and manufacturer benefit both, when building with standard components) , but if the customer values the pros vs contras differently than the salesman, the one who pays (the customer) should make the final decision ;)

If the customer doesnt have his voice heard, he'll find another one who builds what he wants :)

Well if you insist on a true 4 wheel wagon with automotive steering, I suggest you have two options.
1. my first choice would be to buy a used wagon and hoist box from a a dealer,farmer , auction,etc. All the majors had them at one time JD,IH ,Case etc., but the second line or short line mfgs were probably better and less expensive. We had 3 COBEY wagons very HD hoists,floors and side boards, very popular in upstate NY. We hauled silage, grain ,kicker bales, and stones and gravel in ours. Had them so overloaded that we had a ag tire dealer put airplane tires on them. Never had a frame ,axle or steering gear fail. Even towed 10 ton grain to mill behind the pick up, (plan your stops way ahead)
2. Build your own starting with an old farm truck or dump truck chassis, with hoist and bed built in . Shorten chassis up to needed length, add a pivot point to the axle just like in the photo of the one home built, add a tongue. Don't be afraid to over build it either, if it looks good to you , double the strength or tickness or what ever. Go for it.

Have you considered a 5th wheel hitch that is used in a pick-up? They are rated for more weight than what your talking and would have potential for fabing to your axle. I'm sure you could find a used one somewhere.

I knew someone would come up with something better!

Those pickup hitches go on Craig's list all the time for about $100.

Thanks guys !!!
@Jay, Thanks for pics, I've sent you an email. Maybe will works !!!
@Iplayfarmer, actually YES:confused: !!! My rear van axles have leaf springs attached. My belief is they are useful and advisable. I know this kind of suspension will complicate the frame, but that 5 ton trailer I've posted (my "big brother" model) has this kind of suspension, and turntable steering....Yes, I know that it may affect... it's for sure....but I'm thinking how can I have both....Without suspension....I have to think at some kind of shock absorber...or maybe not...if I decide to cancel at suspension...Under 15-18 mph speed...maybe I can drop it....
@Renze, :D I think I know what you talking about....!!!!:cool:
Thank You Joe48, I got it !!!. Old but gold is...
"add a pivot point to the axle just like in the photo" :( easy to talk....but how :eek: ???!!!
@Bentwrench, actually yes, I've considered this idea !!!....I've seen a movie on net with a guy who install this 5.wheel hitch on a Ford pick-up....
