Most people that never worked in sales, would try to convince the other... A good salesman tries to give his customers all available options and then talk him into the easy manufacturing way that will be most beneficial for all parties (less risk and more profit for factory and better value for money for customers, so customer and manufacturer benefit both, when building with standard components) , but if the customer values the pros vs contras differently than the salesman, the one who pays (the customer) should make the final decision
If the customer doesnt have his voice heard, he'll find another one who builds what he wants
