Same here... never had stem problems till the last few years...

I went to metal stems for my trailers.

That has some appeal, but considering where the tractor does its thing, I'd be afraid that contact with a stick or something might mangle a metal stem where a rubber one would just flex. A decent rubber one that is...

Anyone have experience w/metal stems on tractor wheels?

My guess quality rubber would take more tractor type abuse unless the rim had a steel collar stem protector as does larger equipment.

Some of the cars I drive have tires and tubes more than 50 years old and some don't even loose a pound a year... amazing how well some things made in America last.

everything I own has metal valve stems from my '07 ram to my '10 VW's to the '10 Deere.
The tractor has the real short stems that are installed pretty deep in the dish and I do not see them being damaged.

I had to replace a valve stem on one of my front tires last month, on my Bx2350. I thought it was kind of odd that it it just came apart like it did. Must be quality chinese made crap. After reading this post I will keep an eye on the rest of them.
