I have not experienced the damage some have, that I know of. I have heard them in the evenings all my life during the summer.

I remember hearing them as a kid fishing the creeks of Northern Arkansas in the afternoons and here in Texas every summer.

I hear their drone when outside and can't help feeling that it sounds familar.

It's finally dawned on me... it reminds me of some of the "death ray" sound effects from old Sci-Fi movies. You know... when the death ray blasts out and blows up a row of tanks?

The 17 year kind is all I have seen here, but they make the best fishbait you can find. Use a thin wire hook in an area where they can stay alive, no sinker so they can buzz around on the water surface, cast them near any kind of structure, very little waiting. Almost any kind of fish will hit them.
