Nice machine. My dad sold his D4D dozer and 941B loader couple years ago to my neighbor. They had been sitting for over 15 years but was running when left sitting. I kept the area around them mowed so access was good. My neighbor owns a grading company and paving company. His 955 loader was in need of repair so he bought both of these machines. They were good older machines and all he had to do was get them running and run them over to his adjoining farm. Took him a couple hours to get them up and going.

Around here Caterpillar sells better than Deere or Case. I remember dad getting the undercarriage reworked on both machines years ago. They were both in really good shape for the years.

Good luck with your machine. I am sure that you will really enjoy it.

Thanks guys...I just saw the latest posts (not sure how I missed them). So I had a bit of a scare with the dozer, but I'm pretty sure it's nothing. Sometimes I would put the transmission in 1st and nothing would happen, then I'd put it in 2nd and it would move, then going back and forth sometimes 1st would engage. Needless to say, I was pretty worried! Today I spent some time and found out that the selector lever needs to be inboard a little bit (towards me) to engage 1st for some reason. I suspect the linkage needs to be adjusted. Once I figured that out, the problem was gone and it engages every time.

It's going to spend the winter in the barn, and probably inside when it's going to be parked for a while as well, but I wanted a way to keep water off it when I want to leave it outside. Luckily, my neighbor started doing upholstery over last winter because he just finished building a boat (wooden 35ft inboard sport fisher style) and need to do the cushions, a cover, etc. I got some Sunbrella fabric from a boat cover shop that was closing, and today we came up with the pattern, and my neighbor sewed up the cover....I think it came out pretty well!

Never seen a cover for a Dozer... I do agree weather protection and more so rodent protection can't hurt... very clever!

I don't know how much difference it will make, but I figured it can't hurt to keep the important stuff dry. The fabric is supposed to breathe, so it shouldn't trap moisture. I'm eventually going to reorganize the barn to make space for it, but I figure it'll be fine outside when I'm using it frequently. I wasn't going to pay someone to make a cover, but when my neighbor said he'd gotten into upholstery over the winter it was a no-brainer...he's always looking for projects.
