The Ideal Tractor

That New Holland sure does look impressive, but all this talk about more and more sophistication reminds me of when I was initially tractor shopping. One of the dealers got to talking, and said that for his line of tractors the compacts were the McDonalds hamburger of the fleet - sell it once and forget about it. He said the bigger units were plagued with added problems stemming from added complexity, especially in the electrical department. Said that water and cow manure do not make good bedfellows for complex electricals.

Nobody thought HST would take over the world either - too sophisticated, too much complexity, too much potential trouble...but read the posts on this board and see a feature which is becoming a standard.

I think if enough people want it, manufacturers will make it and make it well - and cheap.

I just saw that tractor at the EFD for the first time in person... very impressive. Although I am not sure if we'll ever see a smaller version. Trying to think if having a loader on the rear (or which is the rear?) and a backhoe on the front would make sense.

Cab Details? I'd look for a Palm Pilot cradle and laptop holder, with built in cellphone, etc... all the things needed to log on to TractorByNet.com from the tractor. Otherwise just a standard NH cab (those are nice!).

The ideal tractor has a hydroengine. It runs on water and sounds like a diesel. It is heavy enough and has enough HP to move a football field across town, but light enough not to leave any scuff marks while mowing. It mows 10 acres with only 3 passes, and yet is small enough to drive between trees in the back yard. The ROPs is like an air bag. It only deploys when the tractor turns over, so it not in the way otherwise. The tractor will do 55 on the highway, so trailering is not needed. It has a hydro trans, air conditioning, and wireless DSL for surfing the net while mowing. It has the reliability of a Kubota and the looks of a New Holland, but the price of a Rhino.

Can we make the DSL an option? I get on a tractor to ESCAPE the work environment!
