The Internet-Growing Problems or Dieing Problems?

The conclustion I've come to is the whole "Internet of Everything" is similar to the CB radio era. A big flash in the pan. How do you guys see it.

I don't think the Internet is a fad like CB radios. It's here to stay. However, there is certainly room for improvement. Much Internet content is crap so proceed at your own risk.

Cash isn't king either... try putting a $50 down to buy a tank of Gas in Oakland... no way Jose'

On the other hand a lot of the small vendors have smart phone apps to take credit cards...

On of the tenants is extremely upset with the electric company... they are doing upgrades and power is scheduled to be out and it is the end of the world... said how is she suppose to charge her phone???

Told her we never had the problem with landlines and often the phone would work when nothing else did.

I've actually heard rumors that people with tractors from all over the place use the internet to help each other out with their tractor issues and all sorts of things.

I'm not sure I believe it, though!

The Internet is certainly here to stay. But, I believe it is creating a real trap for humans. On 911, the net was useless! That was before so many corporations, governments, IP phones, security and a host of others were on it. Today (I believe) if there was a disaster, NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING would work!

Last night I was watching Netflicks at 1AM. Suddenly the Internet ground to a crawl. Funny, I thought for that time of night. There is not a person alive that I can talk to to find out why that happened. Wonderfull system!

When that happens here, it is almost always some hidden program on my 'puter running in the background. I just log off and back on, cures it.

It's just another urban legend

At work we are strongly encouraged to use mostly email to communicate with anyone outside the company, and if we have a phone or an in person conversation; we are suppose to send an email "per our conversation ...". It helps cover everyone's butts. We also copy our supervisor and "business unit manager" on every email. Down side is, there is info you can't really send in an email; like "you still have time, it's not killing us" but in an email "if not finished by tomorrow, you face liquidated damages" ect.

I have a love hate relationship with email, smart phones, and tech in general. I tell people phones are just like crack, but with out the weight loss benefit.

I think that rumor has pretty well been debunked.

the local autoparts vendors "We don't do email anymore" and that's true with most brick and morter places here in town and Web sites are being taken down as a "Too Big of a Pain to maintain and too expensive". I've seen most Craigslist ads say "No Emails" they only want phone call replys. jr

This might be the dumbest threads of the year.

The internet and communication is seeping or flooding into our lives.

As for Craigslist sellers, they want serious inqueries only.

Almost any business has some kind of website, some maybe doing Facebook cause free. But they have some kind of internet presence.

Who hasn't shopped on Amazon?

CBs may have been replaced by cell phones, though not a group activity. Chatrooms and forums are though.
