The Internet-Growing Problems or Dieing Problems?

Turnkey Are you saying that the towers are still standing? That's GREAT news! WOW. What misinformation!

I spoke with a window manufacturer today (Dashwood Industries) concerning our 72 era windows. Although the parts were no longer available, my God, what a pleasure it was to talk to someone that was not guided by a computer program, spoke clear concise English and was of the same culture as me. You could have a real back and forth conversation. I even learned what a SASH was! I can't believe that this company wasn't acquired and destroyed by a take over and these long term employees sent packing and into history, long ago!

They even suggested an alternative to the obsolete part. Have I possibly died and gone to heaven?

Yeah, I think the whole premise of this thread was pretty funny to start with. I suspect we will look back 10 years from now at the usage rates you have posted here and laugh at how pitifully small they were back in 2016.

Talk to some telecom companies. They used to think a 144 Fiber was as big as they could ever use, now there was a research hospital (Shands) that was considering running 288 fiber just as an interconnect between two of their hospitals, across the street from each other.... 864 fibera, 528 fibers, ect.

Until recently I used to work for a Telcom company. We now have the ability to get more bandwidth out of each fiber with DWDM (Dense Wave Division Multiplexing) 10Gig of bandwidth per fiber pair was common. I sold 10Gig circuits in northwestern Ar. I am out of it now, but bigger/faster circuits were on the horizon. I can assure everyone that internet bandwidth requirements and growth is only going to go up. and up and up and up and...
