The largest 2-wheeled tractor in the world?

One could argue that the CAT 631G Tractor/Scraper has the largest 2 wheeled tractor though it is permanently attached to the scraper portion. Still impressive at 500hp!

500hp and a total shipping weight of 100005.97 lb. That's a bit heavier than my BCS even with the wheel weights. A bit more expensive too.

There hasn't been many new candidates for the title as the world's largest 2-wheeled tractor until now, so I would like to add some of the information I have been able to find regarding the Agri-Robot.

The video in my first post is dated 1962. This fact combined with the text below the video, indicate that it was made on June 20th 1962, when the Dutch farmer Cornelis Sieling presented his invention to the local press. Based on this prototype, Eicher produced their test model and presented it to the agricultural press April 14th 1964. As mentioned, the Agri-Robot never went into production.

Another - and more resent - candidate to the title could be the tractor produced by Lansberry Tractor Company in Pennsylvania, USA. This unique design features 2 wheels with a single track in between:

Technically, I think this configuration qualifies as a 2-wheeled tractor, so it could be interesting to hear more about this interesting design.

It's forward and reverse power are provided by the belt. The outside wheels only provide turning, no traction. Neat machine, though.

I was reading the specs on that thing... 34 yard capacity! My PT425 is 102 times less that! :laughing:

Yeah, I suspect my entire tractor weighs less than one tire on that thing!

I saw quite a few of them over the last 4 years taking one of our kid back and forth to Purdue while they are building the new sections of S.R. 25 between Logansport and Lafayette. Amazing machines. However, I've noticed they are now using more big articulated Ag tractors pulling dirt pans more frequently on highway jobs. Wonder why the shift?

However, I've noticed they are now using more big articulated Ag tractors pulling dirt pans more frequently on highway jobs. Wonder why the shift?

The Ag tractors are a lot cheaper and go faster. so even though they cannot haul as much they are much lower cost to operate. The only advantage to the big ones is the massive amount of dirt they move but in a lot of road building situations there is more sculpting than serious dirt moving.

Yeah, and I see the Ag tractors pulling compactors, and other implements, too, so double/triple duty machine.
