Made perfect sense to me, but then again, I do the same thing, so either we both are smart, or really dumb :)

Or old.

Could be. But I have been "breaking up" math problems into segments and working on the individual segments and combining results in my head for a long time. I find that "eating elephants" the one little bite at a time method has worked for me. :) When I try to eat the whole elephant, I usually choke..

I amazed my daughter by doing my gas mileage in my head, driving away from the pumps. First off it helps to know about what it should be. My car is often around 25 mpg. So first I get rid of the 20. Let's say 14 gal and 356 miles. How many gallons I put in times 20 (x 2, x 10, pretty easy in your head) -> 14x2=28x10=280. Then subtract that from how many miles were on the trip odometer at fill up, before resetting. 356-280 = 76 (or think of it as 56+ 20 as you work to 300 from both ends). Now you can start working your way up to get the remainder 1 mpg at a time. So I put in 14 gal and now have 76 miles left after subtracting. 14+14=28+14=42+14=56+14=70 -close! That is 5 14's. So 20+5=25 and then 76-70=6 left over 6/14 or about .4 So 25.4 ish. I cheat a bit with the decimals to make it easier at times. Definitely close enough for gov't work...

No matter how big you build a shed, it will be too small as soon as you finish.

The odds that you forgot to take TP along with you on your tractor increase geometrically with the distance you have traveled until you need it.

Or when going for a walk.

Be it house, shop, barn, carport, tool shed etc., etc., etc....there are never enough horizontal surfaces to pile stuff on...

There are if you are single!

I was Married for over 25 years. She absolutely could not stand to see ANY horizontal surface empty. Much worse was, if I set my screwdriver down on the counter to go take a leak, it was gone by the time I got back. She had no idea where she had just put it, it was simply out of site.

Honestly, most my buddies shops look like HF vomited.

When I retired from the AF there was just me andwife so we bought a small (30x30) house in the country. No closets to speak of with plans to remodel. Each time I would finish a room I would have a closet. My tools weren't even put away before it was filled. Continued that way for 20 years before the 18x30 addtion was done. Lots of closets, every one full.

When we built our home, Sharn Jean said "We'll never fill this house up". Now all the closets are full, including the big one I built in the garage, plus half of the garage, plus a large part of my shop. I have half of one closet, she has the other half plus the other two bedroom closets, the hall closet and the one in the garage. Anyone like to buy a 30 year collection of antique soda fountain glassware, dippers, etc.?

Regardless of reason, need or task at hand, when you want the ground to be hard, it will be soft and when you want it to be soft, it will be hard.
