Mike & Kyle, nope, correct...blown head gasket.

Bindi, warranty good until 6/12......"Game ON"

Simon, I will be marking the inside of the logs to locate the screws(so i don't hit 'em), then I will stop at the second row which it a foot high and drill 3/4" holes for the outlets wire channel. The next course of logs will have to have the outlet box cut out corresponding with the holes drilled. Switch wire channels will get cut vertically into the door logs with a chainsaw, then a hole drilled straight down into the basement. Switch outlet boxes will get cut into the horzontal log next to the door log when I get to that height(4.5 or 5'). Wide (8") door trim will then cover all the channels and wires.

Rick,
Who is Bindi?:confused2::) How about some photos of the wiring routing thru and along the logs?;) Please.:)
hugs, Brandi

Bindi might be a typo after a margarita...or two:drink: But, now that I mentioned it, that could be your new nickname:confused3:

It was not milky, but a half inch over the full mark on the dipstick, so I did the paper towel test. The paper towel showed a large ring of water, so I am just guessing I didn't run it enough to emulisfy the water and oil.

I will shoot some pic's of the wiring conduits when I have done them....just hold your horses:D

Well, we pinched a hyd hose on the borrowed JD(that's why I hate borrowing anything), so I had to roll hay with my friends Belarus. I swear Russians must have 4 feet...2 brake pedals, a clutch pedal, and pto clutch petal....holeey crap it was interesting. Man I already am jonesing for my hydro and it hasn't even been one day:(

Head gasket story..............
I had to R&R the head gasket on my son's car. We had the car on the trailer when we stopped at the parts house. A Brooklyn accented, wiseguy looking guy saw me with the head gasket in my hand and asked what I was doing with the gasket. I told him I was going to change it. He then said his brother needed a head gasket replaced also. As I was walking back to my truck, this guy came out and hollered at another wiseguy,... looking guy in the parking lot and said I was going to replace the head gasket myself. The other brother asked me what I was doing after I finished the gasket replacement. I told him I would be playing on my tractor. Then he added................."Tractor???, I can farm". My son saw and heard all of this and was laughing his a&* off. I get teased all the time about it now.;)

As to holding my horses..........I am holding two horses and one mule.:cool2:

GREAT on the warranty. Im curious as to why the head gasket blew. Did it ever run hot? Might have been a bad run of gaskets. Could have been improper installation. I've seen head gaskets fail in several ways. They usually let coolant into the oil which causes it to turn a milky color. Sometimes the coolant runs into the the combustion chambers and you get white smoke out of the exhaust. I have also seen oil in the coolant. Either way its a real pain in the you know what.

I had some road debris cut the serpentine belt on my 96 F150 about a week ago. I had to drive about two miles before I could get off the road. It boiled coolant out of the reservoir when I stopped. I was holding my breath it didnt blow the head gasket. I luckily had the old belt, field replaced it and drove to advance auto for another belt and coolant. So far no problemo. Moral of the story: Keep the old belt behind the seat. Your dead in the water without it.

Are you a salt on the glass rim margarita guy? I cant drink one without it.:licking:

I had a buddie stop in on his vacation. He was an electrician in a past life, so he came up with a better way to route the switches. We had a long discussion about the outlests and to save time and work I decided to go with infloor outlets.

For the wall switches we drilled an angled hole thru the 4th log into the basement. I then enlarged the top hole with a chainsaw so we could push a 1/2" metal conduit(emt) with 20 degree bend thru the hole. The emt will run up the inside of the vertical door logs and be hidden by notching the ends of the logs where they meet the vertical log:

This is what they look like in the basement:
