Not one thing to do with tractors, but I just CAN'T be the only Johnny Cash fan on this board, so I figured a friendly pointer was OK. I have been a fan of his since I was a little boy, but I have to say that his most recent CD's are the best work of his ever. I just got his newest (American III - solitary man), and while his voice has certainly declined some in the last year or so due to his illnesses, it is a real treasure of a collection that any Johnny Cash fan absolutely must have. American Recordings and Unchained are better as far as the beauty of his singing, but the songs he put together for this (his last???) collection are really special. If you are a fan of the Man in Black, do yourself a favor and get this newest CD.

Paul,

Thanks for the tip. I'll definitely check it out. I've been a Cash fan since about the time "my daddy left home when I was three and didn't leave much for my mom and me." (actually I was five) Do you have The Essential JOHNNY CASH from Columbia Country Classics? Some of my all time favorites are One Piece At A Time, Oney, Highway Patrolman, Singin' in Viet Nam Talkin' Blues, What Is Truth....

BTW, have you read "CASH" THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY.

I have also listened to CASH since I was just a "little nipper". He is still my favorite country artist.

Than I bet you remember Carl Perkins singer song writter who play lead guitar for Johnny Cash than went on his own to make it big.

Kinda to bad Tommy Cash {Johnny brother} didn't make it big,for he did have one chart topper..Six White Horses.

Thomas,

Cash tells a story in his autobiography about a show down in Mississippi where Carl Perkins opened for Elvis Presley. The crowd wanted Perkins so much that Elvis quit performing after 2 songs and left the stage and Perkins came back on. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Gee Thomas, ya got me all I can think of is the Carter Family.

There was also the Tennesee Three.

Later in the 80's were the Highwaymen. Do you know who they were?/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

DFB - no I haven't read the autobiography, but I will thanks for the tip. The Highwaymen...Cash, Nelson, Jennings, and Kristoferson.
Thomas - You got me stumped on that one.

DFB,
A chilly morning to you.
Clear and the moon almost full 1.8 above, plus the wind starting to howl again. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif
Geeze between the snowstorm..ice storm..and the wind,my place looks like I was bomb more than once w/all the branches etc.. upon the ground.../w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Sir you know your facts for sure, for it was the Tennesee Three...and this grasshopper will not challenge Maine Master on C/W music nor H-D. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Paul beat me to the Highwaymen question /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif and thats a combo of talent, song writters & singers & actors plus giving hand to a great cause.

Have a pleasant day watch out for that windchill.

Hey country fans....trivia time:

What has 20 eyes, 40 teeth and an IQ of 50??

The front row of a _________ (fill in your favorite country group) concert!!

Couldn't resist....the wife's a big billy fan, an I've never forgot this one. I must say I've moved more that way over the years myself.

I've always liked country music and have recently gotten my wife hooked. It's not so much that she likes it that well, it's about the only thing (other than NPR) she can play on the car radio and not have to worry about the kids hearing c**p they shouldn't be listening to.

My six year old can identify the Dixie Chicks by thier sound! He's my man /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Thomas

What's called Country music today for sure is different.

Don't stop with the trivia for I was just a pup during the reign of many of the great C&W artists.

A good compilation of Country music is that Classic Country collection by Time Life Music. 120 recordings covering the years 1950-1974. Pus 25 more from Hank Williams too. /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif

Btw. Clear, cold and windy.

Oh there a bunch of old country off the wall humor in my area. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Heck I stop at the store and get a six pack than go to the family reunion hope to get a date, /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif and some of the family trees are like telephone poles than again like stumps. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

THOMAS, do you also have old tires on top of your trailer?

I heard it as...whats long, smelly, and has one tooth?.... The line to get into the concert!

Or what is the best complement bestowed to a female concert goer?.... Nice tooth!

Quick, stop me now, there are just too many!
