I can't believe it - 30 posts and no one has mentioned 40 garlic chicken.
Also - garlic tends to repel small insects if your body chemistry is right and you consume enough, linky.

It can be a delicate balance to consume enough to repel mosquitos and not humans.

Eating garlic is a good way to see who appreciates the same kind of food you do!

I found out by accident the other day, our Australian Shepherd likes garlic.
Don't let him eat it! They've discovered that garlic and other alliums (Onions, scallions...) are toxic to canines.

I believe that this is a relatively new discovery, as when I took my first dog to obedience class they recommended garlic flavored treats as rewards.

Another food which they shouldn't have is grapes, as the fruit can cause kidney failure.

Do not look past Tumeric for both flavor and health. Looks like ginger (also good) but decidedly orange in color.

Garlic, Ginger and Tumeric are my go to for "healthy" flavorings.

"That which does not kill, strengthens!"

ETA

I grow around 60 garlic bulbs each year. Been doing so the past five years. (started with 12)

That number provides a years worth of cloves for cooking, and enough to seed for the following year.

I'm not much of a gardener, and garlic is pretty reliable. So there is enjoyment there at small risk.

Thanks for that update. I won't from here on out. I knew onions were a no-no but not garlic.

Spreaded some ashes on the garlic garden from my wood stove.

It provides some benefits for glowing healthy garlic in my experience.

Living in South Louisiana as I do, cooking without garlic is almost unheard of. We have plenty of garlic and plenty of garlic lovers, but since I have a black thumb, am I really required to grow it?

PS We also have lots of cayenne peppers, filet, onions, and okra to go with our Cajun cooking.
And shallots.

My aunt told me if you're eating garlic, make sure your sweetheart eats some too. Then it won't be a problem when you kiss.

Am I losing my mind, or did this thread just jump down from another forum? I could have sworn that it was someplace else.

It’s not breath you have to worry about. It’s the other end
Never had any ill effects from garlic on that end. Garlic breath on the other hand...
