The New 424 - It just got real!

Thank you VeRV77 for all of your insight and knowledge on the 424. I found a used 2017 with 110 hours, a mid mower and rototiller. It was a great deal so I made the 8 hour drive and swooped it up! Looking forward to getting this baby put to work play :)

keeseckb, Warranty Info in case you don't know: The original retail purchaser can transfer this limited warranty to a subsequent purchaser or owner at any time during the initial Warranty Period. The subsequent purchaser’s warranty period is only the balance of the initial Warranty Period remaining at the time of transfer. In order to transfer warranty coverage, the subsequent owner must provide YANMAR with written notice of any such transfer including unit model and serial numbers

Hey y'all, just took delivery of my new SA424 TLB this morning. My first "real" tractor, so very exciting! The fruit of over a year of research into a lot of brands and a number of dealers around me. Many of the comments on this forum helped push me toward Yanmar too. I decided to get right to work and dig out a stump that's been an eyesore for a long time (one of many to come)! I have a OEM BH thumb on order, and a piranha tooth bar.
VeRV77, Very good choice, Did the dealer have you sign the warranty card? It's needed for warranty and it also has the warranty info. especially for the 10 year warranty

There are a few sources for the brackets. I found a set of cat skidsteer forks and welded the brackets for the 424. I can onky load about 500-600 lbs evenly on a typical pallet before the tilt and lift arms stall but they ate very useful. Titan might make the brackets or a few machine shops will advertise them online. Just search and you will pay ~$100 or so for the set + freight.

The SA424 doesn't have a SSQA on their YL210?? Is that for real?

That is extraordinarily bush, IMHO. Beyond bush leaque. If that is true, they just got crossed off my list.

Then I find this release from a few Months ago:

With Yanmar tractor loaders, quick attach is standard on all Yanmar loaders. For the subcompact SA Series tractors, it is a Yanmar quick attach sized to the capabilities of the subcompact tractors. On the loaders for the larger YT2 and YT3 Series tractors, the loaders have an industry-standard, skid-steer style loader quick attach as standard equipment.

Anybody know what that means? Can somebody translate that from corporate-speak to English?

Seems like if you want to use standard SSQA-equipped FEL attachments, you gotta go to a YT series. And they're calling their SA series a 'subcompact' which, to me, is a glorified lawn mower.

Seems to me that every time I get excited about an off-brand tractor, something like this pops up that ruins it for me.

They have a good idea, good engineering, good equipment then they go and ruin it all by using some kind of junior-bush-league set up like this. And this is on a Loader that out-performs many, much bigger, tractors that are easily listed in the 'Compact' category.

I don't get it.

Yes, the SA series has a smaller quick attach. Not sure if it is proprietary or a 'standard subcompact' AKA smaller one.

The next step up from the SA424 is the YT235 or YT235C:
I ordered the YT235C. with 72" rototiller and a 60"
brushhog

I totally agree with you about the front end loader not having the skid steer quick attach. When I buy a tractor, besides the bucket I would like to get a grapple, small stump bucket and possibly other attachments. The number of FEL attachments available for the SA series from Yanmar is very limited while attachments for the skid steer is unlimited. Going through the cost and process of converting the SA to skid steer in my opinion defeats the purpose of buying the 424. You lose both money and more importantly lift capacity.
