Not really similar to a lot of posts; But instapot electric pressure cooker. Wife mentioned wanting one, and I had no idea what it was, but I ordered one for her this past Christmas. I use that dang thing almost every Sunday to make pork or beef roast tacos. What would take 3 or 4 hours kd slow cooking van be ready in 2 hours, and just dump it all in there; flavors all blend real good, and you get all the garlic, adobe, pepper, flavors without them cooking away.

I told the wife, I really did get it for you, even though I use it 10x more then her. She said, If your cooking, that counts.

Speaking of household items I really like my Phillips brand sonic care tooth brush I'm on my 2nd one in the last 8 yrs 1st one lasted me over 6 yrs with 2x a day use, go to dentist very minimal plaque scraping so it works great. Used spin type brushes before this one works better and lasts in my experience.

This one, with the cup you put it into recharge got as a gift. Works all the time everytime. Large packages of replacement heads available at sam's or Costco.

Second to my pistol I can’t go anywhere without at least one chainsaw .

I bought a dewalt 60V cordless chainsaw and have used the ever loving snot out of it on many occasions.
I put one in my Wife’s vehicle as well.

I bought one for each of my Daughters as Christmas presents and just recently my Daughter got trapped between two trees during a freak wind storm.
Her and her Husband were able to cut their way free and instantly made friends with all the motorists nearby.

I carry a gas saw and the electric in my daily driver but I probably use the electric more than anything because of its simplicity.

I had a VW Jetta TDI, my wife and I were in Mississippi going to the dentist (about 30 miles) on 2 lane roads. About 3 miles out there was a tree across the road, about 6" DBH where it crossed the road. And a foot or so off the pavement.
I turned around, went home, got my HF 14" battery operated chainsaw. When I returned to the tree there were several pickups of various people waiting to come the other way.
My saw made quick work of it, the pickups had guys that could drag the sections off, but nobody (other than myself) even had a rope.
Since then I've bought a DeWalt 12" saw for my "carry saw".

Everyone should have a chainsaw in the pickup truck. We have noticed that after a hurricane the roads are quickly opened by the guys who always carry a chainsaw. (Not the state DPW, but the guys with chainsaws.) They probably also have a shotgun, too, but they don't need them for clearing roads, usually.

Here in the Appalachians we get some freaky storms and there’s usually at least one out of 5 motorists with a chainsaw.
One day my wife was two cars behind a downed tree during a morning stormy commute.
She said a brawny woman got out of her truck with a chainsaw and started cutting a path and began waving people through like a boss.
Gotta love people that are prepared.

Lathe and Mill. Wish I had those decades ago.

Had to pass up a free lathe and mill at the home of a late friend. Would have been just too much trouble to extricate the stuff from a basement and then transport it 800 miles, and then also have nowhere to put it. Darn! Good US-made tools (Bridgeport, I believe) became steel scrap.

I would've gladly driven 4,000 miles, and paid someone whatever they wanted to extract that mill and lathe since I can't lift heavy things.

Fire-rated ammo storage cabinet. Two reasons:

1. Reduced likelihood of ignition in a house fire, and massively reduced probability of further fueling a fire if ignited.
2. Our house is becoming a gathering place for our kids friends, and while I fully trust my own kids to never mess around with ammo, I'm not always as sure about their friends and classmates.

I ended up using a fire rated chemical cabinet, after doing some research and watching videos of their testing with highly flammable chemicals, which is essentially what ammo is. I used to shoot trap, and probably will again when life calms down a bit, so I bought something large enough to store a dozen flats (250 rounds per flat ~3000 x 2-3/4" shells), plus all my various high power rifle, pistol, etc. The likelihood of ammo reaching ignition temperature in this safe, which is sitting on my concrete basement floor, seems pretty low. If it does manage to reach ignition temperature, it is designed to contain the fire, safely venting thru baffled vents, like a muffler on your car.



Now I sleep better at night, when the kids are having a slumber party in the basement rec. room, just adjacent to the room where I store most of our guns and ammo. If anything ever happens in this house, I can assure you the word "arsenal" will be used somewhere in the news headline, but at least they won't ever be able to accuse me of not keeping my **** locked up.

There's also a fingerprint-activated pistol safe in the bedroom, for the one or two items kept at-hand for home defense. It opens in less than 2 seconds with my wife's or my finger on the sensor.
