Which one would you buy?

The newer one.

It has the aluminum body and will look like new for years to come. It still has 100k miles of life on the mechanicals and would last me 10 years. The 2012 will need body work soon.
I agree. My 2016 has almost 180,000 miles and she still looks and drives great.

Based on your location, and if the truck is a "southern" truck, there is little concern for rust.

I would go with the 2012. Doesn't have the 10 speed transmission, less computer crap (like the auto start-stop), and still has a ton of life left in the engine (presumably).

But I would take the one you prefer to a mechanic to have it checked out for compression, codes, etc.

@tallyho8 you know you will get about 25% of the replies will be for the 2012, 25% for the 2019, 25% for either one, and 25% for none of them.

My vote is for either one. They seem to be close to equal in value. Drive both of them and get the one you like better.

I don't think it will need body work soon. We don't have rust problems here like they have up north. I have a 1995 F250 diesel with nary a rust spot on it. Trucks sell well here as they aren't as popular as the SUVs. My diesel has only 102,000 miles on it and I think I can get $20,000 for it.

Maybe check Kelly Blue Book
I did a quick check, my zip code, both good condition, loaded, private sale, blue color.
Truck 1-$14,868
Truck 2-$11,959
Somewhere I read the 2012 5L(302) had oiling issues(?)...maybe check that.
My '93 I have about $2,800 in it but 207,000 miles I'm not comfortable going over about 15 miles from home, although everything works & maintenanced.

I guess it depends on where it is coming from. If it is a salt application area 7 years could be a big difference in rust impact. If not I would probably go with low mileage.
