Tractor
LS MT125 TLBM
Somebody threatened to start one, but hasn't. So, whatcha' got?

I picked up a Motorola Moto G Stylus a few weeks ago. 128 of those gigabit things to store stuff. So far, I've only cluttered up about 20% of them. It's running Android 10, but is now offering to upgrade to 11. Not sure if I want to.

I've had four Motorola phones and have the Moto G Power now, upgrading the Android version never led to any problems.

Myself, I have a Samsung Note and I never brows the net on it. For calls, and flying my drones.

Also have a Crystal Sky for flying as well.

Smart buy. The Motorola is a top of the line phone for a bottom of the line price. It gets "best deal" ratings everywhere. My wife has one, and loves it. It has a slot for a micro SD card, so if you get short on storage you can expand it.

I have a 4 year old LG Stylus 4, and use it for a lot of different stuff. I have a cheap set of bluetooth earbuds (Skull Candy, I think) and listen to audio books or music while I'm working outside. On the tractor, I have to wear muffs over the ear buds to cut tractor noise. I put a 64 gb micro SD in the slot and loaded my entire music collection onto it, so can also listen to music.

For navigation I use Waze, which is really handy out in the country where street signs are nonexistent and the house number is on the other side of the mailbox.

I subscribe to AVG antivirus, cleaner, and VPN. You really shouldn't use public WiFi without VPN, which encrypts stuff you put over a public connection. Set up your lock screen with contact info. If somebody finds your phone, you may actually get it back. The "Find My Phone" app is handy if you want to go looking yourself.

It's handy to have a camera. I configured mine to store stills and video to the microSD card, so have plenty of space for that.

I do NOT have Facebook on the cell phone because it's too intrusive and a resource hog. I do use Messenger.

When I replace the LG, I'll look closely at the Motorola. I picked the LG because it's made in South Korea, not China. Motorola is a Chinese company, but most of the assembly is done in India. I dunno. Generally I avoid doing business with hostile nations where possible.

I had a Motorola Turbo phone for five years and other than the battery getting weak, which I changed, it always worked. Finally replaced it with a new Turbo 2 that I got off Amazon for ~$120. All I did was switch the SIM card to the new phone and set up my email address and everything synced up within an hour or so. All I use it for is calls, some texts, pictures, and a couple of apps for grocery lists and lists of info that I may need like tractor serial numbers and such. No social media crap at all, ever.
I can't see paying the Apple tax. Over a grand for a phone? Fools and their money are soon parted.
Apple's theory is that it's immoral to allow suckers to keep their money.

I didn't know Motorola is now a chinese company. At one time, they were the gold standard in land mobile communications. We called them batwings.....look at their logo.....if it's even still the same?

chinese bat wings...that made me laugh.

Just a cheapie LG flip phone for me. Cost $20. Handles 4G so it should be good for some time to come.
Sits in a drawer 99% of the time.

I think I have one of those in a drawer somewhere. Was a good phone but the battery died.

Cant wait until the kids are grown and off my “dole”, which includes cell phone expenses....
Good grief, I got nothing of the sort when I was a kid. Wife says it’s worth it for the security of them being able to call us at any time from L.I. .....I mean college ;)
Most of us +40 crowd turned out ok without a cell phone when we were kids, right?
Whenever I threaten to switch us to a cheaper plan, everyone freaks out.

I also have the Motorola G Power. It's a very good phone. It was less than $200 from Amazon. I use it a lot for listening to and reading books, internet and even make a phone call now and then. Battery life is it's big feature, it will go as long as 4 days between charges for me with regular use.

The only negative is that it doesn't have inductive charging. If the USB port goes bad, the phone is a brick, while phones with inductive charging can still be used. That's the only feature I wish it had.

Motorola is owned by Lenovo, the same Chinese company that bought the IBM laptop business. As Chinese companies go, they are probably one of the less evil ones.

Yeah, I hate those little tiny fragile micro-USB and type C sockets on phones. They are a p@$$ poor design, in my opinion. Why not stick with a coaxial charging port? Fortunately my Droid Turbo2 has inductive charging which is what I use. I do use the jack when transferring pictures or files though, but not that often.
