I have a Kubota 3010 with a loader that i would like to put the thumb on. Can someone tell me how and where you hook up the hyd and how you operate the thumb---pictures would be great--please excuse my tractor ignorance Thanks Paul

Paul what type of thumb? If you mean on the loader bucket, then can you provide the model # for the thumb you purchased, and the hydraulic 3rd function kit (if not already installed). If you mean a backhoe thumb then please provide similar information.

I looked at The Thumb post that is on this forum and i think it is what i want .It is for the loader bucket {front} . What i would like to know is what else i will need and about the 3 function kit ,where you get it ,where it goes on tractor, and is there another lever that operates the thumb. I know nothing about adding another hyd function to tractor {as you can tell }. Pics would be great Thanks Paul

gd is talking about the thumb's many of us added in this post. I used one pair of rear remotes to operate my thumb. If gd doesn't have remotes he need to add a 3rd function or diverter valve to operate it. There have been other posts on how to add hydraulics. If you're mechanically inclined call your dealer who can give you a price for the kit. If not, dealer can quote you a complete install.

Paul,
Try calling the guy who makes the Thumb. He’s very helpful and will give you part numbers for the diverter valve. Most likely you will have to figure out a good location and hose lengths yourself. No extra lever is needed, you wire in an electric pushbutton that controls the diverter valve. When you are not pressing the button the loader bucket operates normally. When you press the button it activates the diverter valve and it diverts the hydraulic flow to the thumb. The regular control lever then controls the thumb instead of the bucket, until you release the button.

Edit: Installing the thumb is a mechanical, hydraulic and electrical project and not simple if you have limited experiemce in all of the above. Can you recruit an experienced helper?

Everythingattachments.com sells 3rd function kits that are tractor specific. Very easy to install. It comes with all hoses and hardware. Here's a pic of my grapple after installing the 3rd function. Installed the kit in less than an hour 20181010_205523.jpeg
