The Tractor Challenge KIOTI DK55C Vs Kubota L5030!

When is the challange on parts support, resale value, fit and finish, after market implements, brand respect, engine quality, smoothness of operation and dealer network?

I'm sorry, that was as off color as the origional post, but I could not resist. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Kioti seems to make a descent tractor, but its got a long way to go before it can offer all that the big three can.

There you go again Messick. In one post you'll "sort" of defend a brand, and then in another, you'll go for the throat. I used to wonder why people picked on you, now I know. However, there is validity to the statement about having a long way to go, but then so did they all at one time. Once again someone is ignoring the fact that Kubota started in much the same way and now you'd think they invented tractors. Please! John

I ment it in fun, don't take it the wrong way. We all know at the end of the day everyones tractor gets the work done. Its just like the car market, you can by a BMW or a kia and still do the same things. Can't say the thought has not crossed my mind about kinda wanting a Kioti dealership licence. There are no dealers in my area besides the big three. Probabaly party because our area is so competitive to begin with. We all need a good reality check now and then, color preference and ownership pride runs deep. We all have our flaws and strong points. The most important part of any purchace is having a good dealer to back you up long term. I am glad to see that fact come out in alot of posts.

How is that for kissing and making up :)

Parts support /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gifI call for a part and it comes (no problem)
Fit and finish /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gifThe fit and finish of my DK is as good as any big 3 I looked at !
After market implements /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gifIf I need an implement I go get one.
Engine quality /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Motor works fine, thanks!
Smoothness of operation /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Works as smooth as the 3010 and 3410 Kubotas I test drove when tractor pricing/buying 2 years ago!

I am curious if you got a Kioti license and displayed the Kioties next to the Kubotas, how would you try and sell one over the other? To the "untrained eye" they could seem one in the same. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

It probably goes for the other brands you sell though. I guess I never thought about it too much. How do you sell one brand over the other without making the other brand look bad? I guess I'm sure what I'm asking. Maybe you can get a sense of the point I'm trying to ask about. Ok, I'll stop. I'm confusing myself! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

JayC,

Actually, I was wondering the same thing. A lot of the dealers have more than 1 brand of tractor. On one of my trips, I saw one dealer that had JD, NH, and Kubota at the same place!

I've always wondered how a dealer sells opposing brands too. But I guess it's no different than a store that sells two or three different brands of washing machines, or watces, or whatevers. If the dealer is a good dealer, he will quickly determine what the customer is looking for based on their conversation, and will then try to match up whichever brand suits the customer's needs. Of course, if all the brands have a model that would meet the needs, then I suppose the dealer is going to push for the brand that gives him the best profit margin.

Does that sound right? Makes sense to me......I guess. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Yes, to both statements.

Or better still, not "push" for either. Let the customer decide which he likes best, feels is best or is most comfortable to him, or fits his budget best. At least that's the way I did it in the retail business (not tractors).

I sell Kubota and New Holland side by side. Each tractor has strengths and fits different people better. For instance, Kubota is cheaper and a bit more friendly for people who are not real used to running tractors. New Holland is a more compact line, but in some cases is heavier for people who care about weight. Its also really good to have two lines because often manufacturers fall behind on production. New Holland has not had TZ compacts, even though we where told we would have them around christmas. Not a big deal, you just sell Kubota instead.

Your right though, it is hard because the differences are not huge. You really need to spend alot of time with each tractor to really be able to properly help someone. I'd bet 3/4 of the time people come in with their color preference already made up reguardless of what I have to say.

I bought my Kioti at Carver Equipment. He sold Kioti and Kobuta, side by side. While I was there 2 farmers were mulling over the DK55 and 5030, which were next to each other. I set back and watched and listened to what they had to say. They seemed to be amazed at the standard features of the DK55 but also like the option of the HST on the 5030. In the end thay went with DK55 because they were row farmers and really didn't need the HST (their words not mine).

Personally, I wish tractors were like cars and offered every color under the rainbow. Then I'd have a deep metal flake cherry red with black pin stripes and flames on the hood. But thats just me. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
