I sort of lean towards something electronic as well (or at least something that can change how it responds that quickly). As you mentioned, since the problem goes away after shutting down and then immediately restarting, it would seem to indicate something is bad that can change that rapidly...and we all know how quickly electronic problems can come and go. Either electronic or something mechanical that can make sudden changes. I wish it had done it today. When I got home, my plan was to start it and get video of it doing it's thing. Then shutting down and restarting to show you how it stops smoking after the restart. The tractor is new - only 54 hours. Mechanic said engineer said they've seen this problem before and suggested this part he's going to replace. If I find out what it is and it's visible after install, I'll snap a photo of it. I won't be around when he comes unless he comes after 3:30pm tomorrow.
By the way, I love watching the video /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I love digital video cameras. Cool how the average joe can pretty much be a movie producer these days with a simple camera and computer. I used a Sony camcorder that records in Digital8 format. I have a firewire card in my PC that talks to the camcorder's firewire connection. I use Windows Movie Maker (free with Windows XP) to grab the video off the camera.
