The 50" Single Lid Wicked Grapple measures 25 1/2" from the front of the lower tube to the tip of the tine.
The 54"-72" Dual and Single Lid models are 26 1/4" from the front of the lower tube to the tip of the tine.



Here's a useful comparison chart, but it does not include that info.

I ended up ordering a 60" double lid yesterday. Only downside is having to wait for it to ship but it's still to wet here to do anything but make more work anyway so that's ok.

Pics and maybe video forthcoming in the next couple months.

My mistake. I thought the safety discussion was going to be about adding material to a burning brush pile. My nephew was pushing up a large burning brush pile with his skid steer that had the door in the front. When he was taking a break, I asked him what would he do if he was pushing into the fire and his engine conked out. He said the back window can be removed and he would escape out the back.

The very next time he drove into the pile, his engine died. He looked back at me as if it was my fault, then cranked the starter a few times before it came to life and he backed out. He was about 5' 20" and I would have been hard pressed to help him get out of that machine.

Of course with a small fire like the one in the picture, not so risky and an open tractor is easy to escape from. But if there is no other equipment around to drag a tractor back, a person could lose the tractor. I'm no scientist, but I suspect there is a shortage of oxygen near a big fire that could upset the stoichiometric needs of a diesel engine and cause it to stall. But I could be wrong, I often am.

Makes no sense to go too close to a burn pile with expensive equipment. If the fire is hot, better to drop in front, back up and push the pile into the fire, using the fresh pile as a heat shield.

Yes - better safe than sorry. Agreed.

In Canada we would call that there fire a "campfire". Here in TX it's a very small "bonfire". As I relayed in another post I believe I could have put that fire out by hand very quickly with my shovel/rake and fire extinguisher that were 20 ft away. I do appreciate the concerns and wisdom and would never do real time feeding of limbs on a real "burn pile". Points duly noted - Thank you Sirs.

Now who here has lit a plastic pail of gas on fire? Anyone? I know there has to be at least one or two... It's very interesting what happens and educational for young 'uns as long as there are no structures, living things, or steep hills nearby.

As a stupid kid, I did it all the time. Plastic or metal pail, I'm not sure of, but there was always gasoline in the farm tank to experiment with.

Not a kid anymore, and am working on the stupid part.

So back to EA Wicked Grapples - I have to wonder if Ted, Peanut, Travis and the team purposely designed my 60" Single lid to work PERFECTLY with by Mahindra 2538 Bucket and Boxblade? Check this awesome coincidence out...

I usually load the box blade in trailer, and then go back and grab the bucket, two trips and an extra 5-10 mins. But unloading this week I was tired and lazy and thought - why not? Pulled forward on the trailer a bit with lid open, closed it and backed up. Had a bite and put some tension on it. Airborne! Hopped off and was very pleased at the three point attachment and locked grip. Check out the pics for a two implement catch.

All implements in one fell swoop.

Note where the clevis brackets rest perfectly on the lip of the bucket that is itself inside the grapple. (You can also see the top of box blade frame locked into grapple nostrils in lid)

Better view of how it all first perfectly like a puzzle - the cutouts in the lid make this a solid attachment when lid is closed to apply pressure.

Tried to shake it loose a bit to see if this was a good idea or not, and there were no problems. I'd say this is a fine way to move the whole kit around when needed!

Only issue I would watch is tongue weight. That boxblade is pretty far forward and heavy.

Naw, should be able to easily lift 1,100 is with that set up I believe so he's got another 400 or so pounds to play with IMHO.
