Local dealer dropped off a kubota Z725KH 60" deck this week so I could try it for a day. I ran it for about 4 hrs and ended up loving it, it really performed great on the sloped parts of my yard which I was concerned about. Of course these areas were dry and I understand moisture is a different story. Having never owned a ZT before I decided to try a couple more out before going with the Kubota. I drove a JD930M this morning and did not feel as secure on the hills as I did on the kubota and did not like the hand brake on JD vs the foot brake on the kubota . I felt like I was sitting higher on the JD which might be why I felt less comfortable on it. Both are priced similarly. I then went to check out the Hustlers, they did not have any super Zs to try but did drive a fast track SD and drove nice but neither rode as nice as the kubota in my opinion. The hustler was a little less HP than the other 2 (1.5k less) but seemed solid. Didn't care for the deck height adjustment and couldn't really try any hills as all was available was a small drainage ditch. Kubota had the most comfortable seat (which is probably why I liked the ride better) although the other two had nice armrest angle adjustment option that I don't think the kubota has, but the kubota armrests were much softer. The hustler had the best fuel gauge and the JD had the worst (the old cap float type). None of the fuel tanks seemed to have any baffles so the you would have to go slow/stop and level out to get a accurate reading. I was initially interested in the Kubota ZD326 because I have a diesel storage tank already here for my 5740 but think I am going to wait and possibly get one down the road if they ever redesign them closer to the ground and a less cheesy looking platform.
At this point I think I am going to go with the kubota Z726KW (if you didn't see that coming), the Kawasaki on my X540 has been good to me. Not a kholer fan but really just a preference not bashing them. Here are a few pics to add, sorry for rambling on but maybe it will help someone or some can add something to help me?
Thanks,
Matt
