Theft of photos from TBN

All in itself the overprinted information isnt a mark of a scam. Its often done to attempt to bypass paying a website commission.
Craigslist is free for private sellers so that wouldn't explain overlaying contact info onto these bogus too-cheap tractor photos.

I automatically assume any ad on Craigslist with a gmail account printed in the ad is a scam.

I automatically assume any ad on Craigslist with a gmail account printed in the ad is a scam.

Why is that? Lots of people use Gmail for their "real" email, I'm one of them.

While I generally take advantage of CL's anonymous forwarding, I would probably use a burner email address if I were to put a direct contact address in an ad. No sense opening the spam floodgates to your real address. Bad enough with traditional online retailers.

Which is why a legitimate seller might overlay the print on a picture. It’s much less likely to be picked up by a spambot.

This is kind of funny yet sad in another way.
I was looking at Craigslist and saw an AD and said, hey that's my tractor!
Yep sure it, they added a lot of fake info of course but it is the photo I posted here in the review section for my MX5100.
Decided to look a little further then found a website overseas using the same exact photo - they make fiberglass parts and have my tractor on their site. Sort of representing they did it I guess. Also found on some 8 best Kubota paints website - no idea what that one is about. Found a few others also but that was the main ones...

Really could careless about the photo but hate seeing it used for a fraud. I figure if I post it the photo is out there and could care if someone uses it for a background, or some powerpoint or something but hate see it used for a fraud - that is just wrong

That is funny - I have been flagging CL ads in my area with this (your) pic for a couple of weeks.

I am glad to hear that. I hope we all can make it difficult for these people and make them waste a ton of time. If I sell my tractor the pic would not be when it was brand new with tags still on it. Oh and it will be for a LOT more (sorry guys)

The reason why they want you to use a direct email is to bypass Craigslist filtering of emails to look for obvious scams. Sometimes somebody will use a email address in Craigslist, but I have yet to see a genuine seller using an email address that is listed in the picture.

I saw that the bucket had never been used and still had a paper tag on it. I guessed that photo was from delivery day. All of that for only $4000. Anyone stupid enough to buy that unused tractor and swallow that story probably deserves to lose their $4000. People NEED to have some common sense. It seems to be a scarce commodity.
