Too many folks misunderstand and overestimate the role and powers of the president. Congress makes laws. Supreme court assures the laws are consistent with the Constitution. President (well, his lackeys) executes what the law authorizes, within the Congressionally-authorized budget.

Sure, the president has influence and a certain amount of leeway (interpretation room), and can veto a law, subject to Congressional override. However, who controls Congress (and the prevailing mood/bent of the Supreme Court!) actually matters more for how changes are made in the laws of the land than who is the President.

You see the repubs. Have both houses and what have they done? The Court is left with the woman he picked they don't care about the law just their party!!!!.The only thing the repubs did was not get a vote for Scalia seat.

How sad is it that a Canadian has a better understanding of the American government than the average voter. Maybe the founding fathers were right using the delegate system.

Actually, I was born in Arizona and raised in So. Calif. and didn't move to Canada until I was nearly 40. Dual citizen now, but still watch happenings south of the border...entertaining, but not always enjoyable!
