I drive a 2015 Tacoma and it does not have a directional compass. It痴 a nice truck with good radio but there just is no compass anywhere. I can navigate just fine without it, but I would every now and then like to know my direction reference to where I am and where I知 going. When I fly I am always aware of my location and direction so it does bug me sometimes that I don稚 have that information.

I have one similar to this on an inherited vehicle. Don't use it much (I keep it covered with a hat, partly to reduce sunburn), but it's nice to know it's there.....

Dash Mount Traveler Compass

Probably not that easy to find on a retail shelf - marine stores might be an possibility, but I suspect they focus more on the expensive bulkhead ones.

Thanks for the replies and recommendations. I will get one of these but I just cannot figure why the **** Toyota wouldn’t install one into the dash, or the mirror.

There may be a higher trim model that did have a compass in the mirror. You could retrofit that. Check the tacoma web sites to see if someone's done that and posted instructions. It'll be a lot more expensive than a simple dash mount compass though.

When I traded a 2004 GMC for a 2009 Tacoma I figured that was no big deal. GMC had on in mirror and Tacoma didnt have one. But that got on my nerves alot....so did alot of things. The Toyota was a reliable truck, but it was underpowered and un ergonomic. It also felt like it was a little too big for its britches compared to an old sr5 pickup.

For years I had vehicles with no compasses. I tried a mechanical one, but it was not reliable, I bought an electronic one and it was not reliable, I bought an after market rear view mirror compass/outside temperature thermometer and it was semi reliable until it died. The best solution I've found is a dash mounted GPS. You can buy an older model off eBay for a few bucks, plus you have maps.

Even a new GPS is cheaper than a marine compass, if I am a long way from areas I know I just look for the general direction of the sun (even on overcast days) and the time.

Manufactures realized trinkets like a compass or turn signals mean nothing to a generation of drivers raised in the back seat, deleting them means more profit to keep the investors and board happy.
