That is when you ask her "did you see the roof on the barn?" before she see's it and asks you. Then.... deny, deny, deny;)! Blame the neighbor kids, or even her:thumbsup:!

You have a brilliant future in politics!

I carry a Big wrench, about 2' long on the tractor and / or a 24" Cressent wrench. When caught doing something really stupid, Grab a wrench, jump off the track, while cussing it out.:thumbsup:

So there ah was... picking up small boulders out of a shallow ravine like it was nothing. Of course I hadn't reversed the seat, I just turned around I just like my expert "been on tractors since I was 10" neighbors. I was going slow and placing them on one side so I could reverse direction and scoopem up. I didn't feel like I needed to use the backhoe outriggers to fully lift the tractor off the ground so I put them down enough to stabilize. (read the rear tires are still on the ground).

Got the last one out, remembered to take the parking brake off, AND lift up the bucket so I don't scrape. As I started forward I thought man this slope must be steeper than it looks, I'm going real slow. I checked to see if I was in 4 wheel drive... yep. Well I guess I just need to increase the rpms.

1*About 4 ft later I noticed that I still had the out riggers down and had scraped two 4' lines (very evenly spaced and straight I might add).

Talk about looking dumb! Of course the wife happens to look out the window and one of my neighbors stops by. Now I know I can tell the wife this is some type of advance ground scraping technique that I learned from Tractorbynet but my neighbor is convinced I'm an idot.
1*Now I don't feel so bad about doing this :
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/2507078-post1097.html

1*Backed filled the 3 inch deep 150 foot long trench down the hill and through the front yard created when I forgot to raise one of the BH stabilizers.

2*But I have drug the ballast barrel a foot or 2 once or twice.
Makes quite a racket on pavement. James K0UA
2* Draging the BH bucket across the lawn or gravel drive because you forget to raise the backhoe will also do a number on them .

I bought a new 10 gallon spot sprayer at Northern Tool and carryall from TSC. I put the carryall on for the first time, and strapped the sprayer on to that. I was going to fill it up with water to make some roundup, but it was suppertime and decided to put it away instead. Drove the tractor down to the shed, then proceeded to back it in when I heard a ruckus behind me. I had simply laid the hose, wand, and power cord on top of the sprayer and apparently on my drive to the shed, that had all fallen off and was being drug behind me. As I began backing up, I drove over it, ripping the power cord right out of the pump, and snapping the nipple off the pump where the hose was fastened. Pretty humbling telling the wife "I broke the sprayer already", knowing it hadn't been out of the box 10 minutes.

Luckily, I had purchased the extended warranty and they swapped it for a new one.
3* I haven't gotten that one out of the box yet.
3*Ya better just leave it in there. ;)

I had to take out a hillside full of stumps on the family farm. Started out by the house my uncle built that is now owned by his kids. Asked my cousin about how the water and elec/phone lines are run. He said they all run over from the barn and as I was 90 degrees out figured all was good til I hit a water line on the 3rd stump. Old line no water so figured ok, 2 stumps later a loud snap, got the main power to the house nowhere near a line from barn to house:eek:

Then I did what most folks know to do in the first place, called for the lines to be located:ashamed:
Fortunatly a few packages of fish n crab to the repair crew resulted in a quick repair with no bill:thumbsup: and a location for the repaired wire. Never did figure out why my uncle zigzaged thru the trees.

I was putting a new culvert on our drive last year and knew the phone line ran near the end, so I had them come out and mark it. I worked toward the paint and flags and when I was about a foot away, I figured one more bucket about 6 inches away and I could do the rest by hand. Sure enough that last scoop brought the telephone cable. Lesson learned - the marks are ballpark, not exact. At least they didn't charge me when they came out to patch the cable because I had called and clearly the cable was not directly under the markers.

I was out dragging an area that I had some trees knocked down from a tornado a few years ago. I dug up the root bases and filled in the holes from where they were at. In the spring after the thaw.... Sinkhole!!! Good times!!!

Two of my neighbors were over to help pour concrete and while waiting for the concrete truck we were standing by my garage door having coffee. One of them asked what the funny crease was across one of the door panels (aluminum paneled heavily insulated expensive door). I said I was surprised they couldn't tell by the ends of the crease. They looked harder, saw the vertical lines at the end, and said, "Aha - you ran into it with your loader!" Right on. That was one of those Aw S**t days. Something had rolled under the hydro pedal so when I backed off it kept going. Fortunately I got it stopped before it destroyed the door. I only had to replace 2 roller brackets and rollers, do some body work on the steel frame ends, and readjust, but the evidence remains. I'm not going to replace the entire panel until next time I drive through the closed door.

At least you did not take out the whole door with the ROPS...On the 2nd day you had your new tractor...:ashamed:

Hey Gismo, I want a shed like that so bad! I thought I was gonna be able to not build a serious shed/shop but now that I've gota a tractor, box blade and contemplating a 4' brush hog... I'm thinking it will have to be a next year project.

I was clearing and leveling for a fence line. I had put some dirt on top of some brush so it looked like level dirt.

I was using the landscape rake to level and the rake got hung up on a root and I could not get it loose. I went to get off the tractor and with my right foot still on the running board I went to step onto the "dirt" and proceeded to drop and additional 18 or so inches without enough grip to hold myself up. Stretched my leg muscle so bad I could hardly walk.

When I got to where I knew my leg was going to stay attached I went to the back of the tractor. I was mad and I was going to get the rake loose. I gave it a yank and one of the tines snapped back into position and took my fingernail off in the process.

I turned the key off and hobbled home...
