Thermostart cup replacement

I'll be surprised if John Deere sells theirs for the $13.96 that Hoyes lists theirs for. Of course you have shipping verses taxes verses gasoline to pick up, but then again taxes may not apply if farm equipment.

I can't remember what I paid for mine, made the change over years ago. I also own a John Deere 950, and when the little bottle cracked on my Yanmar 3000, I made the change to the JD setup. Cold winters in NV and the thermostart gets used for every start in the winter. I got tired of filling the bottle after finding out with the JD you didn't have to, it was always full. Could the JD cost a few bucks more, think so, but worth it. Hoye tractor might even have the other bottle without the cap in stock if you ask ???

Not trying to down sell Hoye at all but for temporary purposes the FF with return will work a lot cheaper here is a pic in case it isn't clear what I am talking about Chris. hth

Not sure what it fits the box wasn't with it but Dodge v8 2 bbl carb mid-late 70's comes to mind??? Its 5/16 and 1/4 for the return. My guess is it would be a few bucks at the zone etc and its only 2" long. fwtw

Personally, I would buy the thermostart cup from Hoye that is designed for a Yanmar tractor.

I didn't have much to do yesterday. So, I went to the auto parts & found a fuel filter similar to the 1 you posted & replaced my old thermostrat cup

Should have mentioned that the JD 950 is a yanmar made product at the start, made in japan on yanmar's production lines. Many of the parts in my YM3000 interchange with the JD 950, this little thermostart bottle is another one of them. JD just wanted one that self fills. Fits the yanmar bracket perfectly because the JD 950 is a yanmar. Same JD thermostart bottle will fit most of the YM series tractors. My second choice would be to go with Car Doc's setup, his would do the same thing, just not fit the bracket the same way. As a side note here, no, not all of the parts interchange, JD had some different specs used in their tractors. 70% interchange possible. Their 750,850,950 and 1050 all have the same story. My YM 3000 was the closest tractor made to the JD 950, still major differences, one big one is the engine. YM 3000=3T84, JD 950=3T90J, many others.

For $14 plus shipping I would buy the one from Hoye and not have to getto rig something that you might have to replace in the future. Good luck!!
