Yes, Hoye has done a great job getting all of the Tech Articles and Yanmar Research pages together and reviewed and updated. It's one reason why folks tend to head there first.

Great idea! I never think to look on Youtube before starting a project that in retrospect is sure to be well described there.

Friday afternoon I discovered the alternator was functional but weak on the '99 Subaru Outback. We had an invitation for a family get-together Sunday up at 7,000 ft in the Sierras and snow was forecast. One shop sent me to another which correctly diagnosed the problem as one of three diodes in the alternator had failed - but no place could repair it until after this scheduled snow trip.

I finally woke up in the middle of the night thinking Youtube likely has a solution. I learned the diodes aren't replaceable (by an amateur) but swapping in an alternator from Autozone looked simple. It was. We made the trip. It snowed hard coming home down the mountain late Sunday night, it would have been a disaster stuck at chain control if we hadn't taken the Subaru.

I don't know why it took me until the middle of the night Friday night to think to look on Youtube for a solution.
