Things found in the field

On 2 separate occasions while mowing in the spring I came across a fawn snuggled down in the tall grass. Was able to get pretty close and snap a couple of pictures while I kept watch out for the mom. By the next round it was gone.

The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
New American Standard Bible (ゥ1995) Matthew 13:44
I found an old Case seed drill in the weeds along the fence line. Most of it was falling apart.

First time in about 50 years on a tractor, was using a friend's Jubilee to practice using a harrow on his garden plot and wallowed my wallet out of my hip pocket and onto the ground. Didn't realize it was gone until I turned for another pass with the harrow and spotted the wallet half buried just before the tractor tire was about to roll over it. Pure luck in spotting it or maybe the tractor gods were looking after me. Since then, have made sure where my wallet is before getting on and when getting out of the seat. Often put it in the front pocket of my jeans. Uncomfortable, but secure.

Forgot to say that my dad told me that he had filled up a shoe box with arrow heads that he found while plowing behind a mule in their field down in Ochlocknee, Georgia. A spring was also on the property and we figured that the land had been hunted for hundreds of years before us white guys showed up to farm the land. A friend in South Georgia said he doesn't even get off the tractor anymore when he spots arrowheads. Guess it's just old hat to find things like that in his fields.

Well I did not find it but the farmer that did gave it to me.

In 1812 the USA invaded Canada and skirmishes occurred all the way up to Lachute, Quebec.

What he found while working his land was a US cavalry sword undoubtedly from a fallen soldier.
While not in greatest of shape it is still a very nice historical piece.
The various nicks on the blade indicate that 'blade met blade' more than a time or two.

A personal find was a 36" bolt cutter that the hydro crew dropped from their muskeg ATV while laying in our power lines some 35 years ago. Walking the power line cut while small game hunting I tripped over the cutter and since I nicked my shin bone I felt that I had earned the right to keep them, LOL.
Long live gov't quality tools as I can cut a 1/2" grade 8 without nicking the blades. (great for Rbar as well)

Did "we" ever find out the make and model?? Very cool thread.

This fall I found a car buried on the property. Crushed up somewhat flat then attempted to bury. Had been covered in blackberries. Thankfully this time no brush hog involved in the find. Am going to pull it out this summer when my buddy comes up with his Deer Dozer.

Nope, probably a corolla of some sort. Friend brought his dozer up, pulled it out and onto a trailer and off to the dump. I thought I had pictures but maybe not.

Did find this a couple of years ago

Have not found anything interesting in our fields yet. However one place we were looking at the owner said there were TWO model T's buried on the property. However he would not budge off his asking price. So we moved on. Found the property we live on now and love it probably more so than we would have loved that other property.

However I would have had a good time excavating the two cars and seeing if there was any worth to them over scrap steel price.

I had one very similar to that. It took a while to dismantle it enough, and collect all the (very rusty) pieces to get it off the property.

6 parking lot concrete bumpers that you drive up to, half in the ground. Needed my backhoe to get rid of them.
