We skipped Muir Woods do to a second run at Caleveras big tree park later this week to give us more time on SR 1 south. Coast didn’t seem to get clear of fog until we hit Santa Cruz.

Car show in Monterey, and my boy is into cars, so I let him browse the show while I waited in the car with the wife. He loved it lol. Found a darn good seafood restaurant to boot for a late lunch.

May do a sunset drive down to Big Sur tonight as we have time.

Side note about California motorcyclists. Do they think they own the road? From Hayward into Half Moon Bay till today on highway one today, I’ve never seen such a “I can get around you because I’m on a bike” attitude. Drive like complete butt holes driving in and out of traffic, squeezing between to cars in the middle. Surprised more aren’t killed for driving like idiots.

Apologies, rant off.

Lane sharing has been legal here forever. Not that some riders don't take chances but if you're not used to lane sharing, probably even normal sane lane sharing is a bit unsettling. Heck I've been riding since I was 16 which was quite a while ago, I'm on the lookout for bikes approaching from behind so I can move over for them, and I still get surprised every once in a while.

There will probably be increased thunderstorm activity this week due to the tropical storm remnants going north along eastern California. Sierra thunderstorms can be pretty intense. It wouldn't keep me from going but I'd keep an eye on the weather especially in the afternoon.
I discovered the NOAA storm map I posted up in #226 is frequently updated and kept current.
Presently it forecasts 1~2" of rain for the region but I expect that is in the high Sierras and less on the western slope.

The specific Angels Camp NWS forecast says not much rain. "Monday - chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms."

What will be, will be.

Can’t control the weather.

We’ve been blessed with good weather so far, so no matter what happens in the next 5 days, we’re already ahead of the game😉

Project Azorian.

It’s a good read, and something I never knew about.

It has to deal with the old Naval station at Big Sur.

Took another ride on route 1 today with a little more time, and was looking at the old naval station more, and it got my curiosity peaked as to what the Navy actually did there.

The old navy facility is now a state park and tours are available on the weekends only. Next trip that will be a must.

Side note, although not a fan of lane sharing (;)) I AM a fan of unisex bathrooms. Something I wished all gas stations in NC would go to so I don’t have to use the woman’s restroom if some guy is reading war and peace in the only man’s restroom available😂

Welcome to California. My wife taught me this decades ago, though in her case it was using the men's room because the line was too long for the ladies. When you gotta go, you gotta go.
