Sorry guys didn't get back to you all but I was waxing my new b2920 and using it (cutting grass) got 1.6 hours on it, but I must say it was a little spooky back in the seat the first few minutes,(I will keep a rag and stick it in the air intake if it ever happens again)and when the engine was reving I didn't have the key in the ignition so I would say the safety cut off switches don't work or with the solonoid on the tractor not shuting off the tractor the safety switches are useless. on delivery I was told there is a lever on injection pump that can be activated without taking side panels off or activating it from the hood area .just ahead of were the lever for throttle control hooks up on injection pump.just on top of fuel filter area. I hope kubota will release the info on what failed on my first b2920 .lot of times the dealer is told by kubota not to touch anything and send them the whole engine so they can inspect and locate what failed, I know this because I work for a automotive company and one time we had a wheel bearing fail and they asked us to remouve the complete suspention and send it to them.

The thing about diesel are they don't need power to run. If they can get fuel (even engine oil) and air they run. They also don't have throttles like a gas engine so the more fuel the faster they run.

One of the dealer techs was also saying that if you unscrew the fuel filter (bowl) the fuel will stop flowing out because there is a built in check valve in the fuel filter( bowl) retainer, If I would of taken the filter right off at the time this happened the fuel would have stoped .

You are all definatly on the right track . quickest is to cut of the air . takes too long to do the fuel ploy . a run away is defiantly a governer problem . the rag bit maybe a tight fitting cap you could slip over the intake. nothing more scary then a detroit 2 stroker run away when doing a no load test normally from a boo boo in the tune up or trying to control the gov with the cover off ive seen them them eat coveralls , a maitence manual just before they granade .and some times shutting the fuel supply they eat thier onwn engine oil till they sieze.Another thing most diesels start in full fuel the governor takes over and settles them down to adjusted idle. good ole 2 strokes

If my tractor did that with 6.5 hours on it I'd get far enough away that I wouldn't get hit by any shrapnel when it blew and call the dealer to come get what was left. I would be expecting them to replace the tractor after that too. Or else give an incredibly long extended warranty. Several years and/or several thousand hours.

Ditto. I'd do that with my 2500 hour tractor too. As for all the "stuff a rag" or "pinch a line" or whatever guys - the LAST thing I would do with a runaway motor is stick my head/hands into it. I do have a manual fuel shut-off on mine, but to the OP cracking the filter bowl seal to try to stop the motor - you're effin' nuts. Scary stuff.

This video shows a diesel self destructing on a dyno stand. It's not a runaway, but it clearly shows why you SHOULD NOT go anywhere near a runaway engine.

Not to take anything away from your dealer being part of the chain, but I really think the onus was/is on Kubota and I can't imagine a manufacturer/dealer annual conference meeting where it has NOT been expressedly implied by Kubota, themselves, that in such rare and catastrophic events they will insist all the dealers get the whole unit back to not only protect their reputation, but analysis, liability etc. To be #1 you have be selling honesty, not trickery and chicanery. If I was the Japanese president of Kubota I would find it is far less skin off my nose to have this unit back for analysis that leap from the elevation of my posh penthouse office balcony.
