Always walk a foreign area or go slow your first time through. Hopefully to never find a culvert/ditch/hole/debris the hard way.

To OP. sorry for your loss.

I was mowing this past week, and going across an area where I know there is an animal den (fox or skunk probably). I knew I was close, but weeds had grown up around it, so I didn't see before right front tire dropped in, and not fast enough to stop before right rear dropped in as I rolled through. I came across unscathed, but if would have had full bucket, or even bucket raised, it would have been enough to tip.

Even though I knew the hole was there, it has been dug out more over the past several months, and it almost ruined my day. Be careful out there friends!

An older gentleman and a good neighbor that was around farm equipment all his life. Got his truck stuck in the creek and went and got his tractor to pull it out and turned the tractor over on himself. He will be missed.

I live just around the corner and have all kinds of equipment and would have gladly gone over there and helped. This is very frustrating and very preventable.

Please THINK about what you are doing and don't be afraid to ask for help.

Sorry that you lost him. Your post reminded me of a report that I read which made me so upset. This was about a 66 year old man who got trapped under a turnover truck for 10 long hours and later dies due to the injuries. Danger is a part of agriculture. With all those tractors, trailers, chemicals, death is often a single mistake away. Be sure to take all the precautions and safety measures. May these souls rest in peace.

I must say this story hits close to me, I don't know how many times I have been stuck and scared the heck out of myself pulling vehicles and tractors out by my self .
Sometimes without incident and other times not so simple .
There is something that people whom always have someone else around because they work together or have a hired man don't have any vision of what it is like to work alone and have to get by/make do with what you have . Yes there are neighbours but everyone is so independent and "BUSY "these days you can't just call without feeling you are imposing.

So sorry about your neighbor. For sure, one should stay careful while doing their work.
