Thinking about a new L39

I been thinking about tradeing up to a New L39.
I just like the fetures it has. I been talking to the dealer
about tradeing my JD 2520 in for one. i have not got to serious yet ,
cause i heard a rumor. the 08 L39 might have a few more HP.
Has anyone heard this? or about any changes. also , any idea when the 08's will hit the floor.

Chris, I think your in the wrong forum. And an L39 surly you meant a 110 tlb?

Chris, there is nothing new as far as horsepower for the L-39 for 2008 as they remain unchanged for this coming year. I think it will take a couple more years for the competition to catch up to it's abilities so why wait? I know from running the industrial units compared to an adapted compact is amazing as to the difference in performance.

Well , Mr Messick has put me on the right path.
he said there will be no changes to the L39 for 2008.
So now just need to decide what i want to do.
or should i say ready to turn loose of that money...

The L39 will be receiving a new Interim Tier IV compliant
engine for 2008. There will not be a change in the power output, and other specs will also be unchanged. I will be buying mine come spring. Good luck

I love my L-39! I have mostly used it for excavation and road-grading so far, but it can do most any task that one would expect of a tractor that size and HP. Happy shopping...

I owned an L-35 for 5 years then traded up to an L-39 which I kept a little over a year. The L-39 was a nice machine, but was way undersized for my needs (my mistake).

It's a stocky, tight, hard working machine.

One thing I'd strongly suggest is checking the used L-39 market. Better yet, check out an L-48. It can do more, it's got a hydrostatic, thicker steel on the hood, better lift/dig specs and there's a ton of barely used L-48's out there.

and though its nice. its a little dated for me. and the new M59 will just
be to big for my perpose. i am funny about used stuff. if i buy , it will be new.
i realize i can almost buy a use machine your size for what it will cost.
but it fits my needs. i only have a few acers and the monster machines like yours dont have a 3 point. and are extreamly heavy. and i cant tow it.
my JD has hydro and i like it. but after playing with the L39, i am starting to like the shuttle shift. so far i am likeing it better than the JD 110.
i like the fetures it has. and i think from all my readings its just as strong.
with a little weight added.
its for personal use. if i was like you. i would get one of the big boys...
if it lives through what Mike puts his through. i know it will work for me.

Chris, I wasn't suggesting to buy a used full size, I was suggesting buying a used L39/L48. When you say the L48 is "dated", did you know they actually have a more "advanced" transmission? I'm pretty sure they also relocated part of the instrument cluster to the right fender like the L-39. Oh well, just making a suggestion. The L-39 is a serious, albeit small, construction machine with 3 pt. I think you'll find it'll easily do anything for you.

I understand if you want a new machine, I can't blame you. It's just that so many companies are selling off b/c of the poor construction enviroment, that there's a lot of great deals on equipment right now!

as for the L48 , its Hydro. though there nice. I dont think
thay will ever be as strong as a gear trans. Why you think
your case and a 310 JD and all big tractors have a shuttle.
there must be a reson. my 2520 is Hydro and i like it. I dont like the
motor haveing to be reved up all the time. i like the gas peddle
on the shuttle. the L48 i sat on . did not have the panel on the side.
it was in the Dash. and i dont like the joystick on the loader.
Now the new M59 will be set up just like the L39 but bigger.
but shoot its going to $50000 , and like i said its to big for my needs.
L39 will be perfect for a home owner. with a few acers.
I got a friend in construction. and he said even with there 310
thay hardly ever need to dig over 10 feet. if thay do. thay use
an excavator. I think it will work for me...

Chris, if you want to save some money, don't trade in your Deere.
Sell it yourself....that should be easy.

You may get a better deal buying your L39 in the winter, when sales are a
bit down, and selling your JD in the spring to maximize your return.

Dfkrug you are right. that would most likely be the right thing to do.
as for waiting til winter. it is 16 degrees here today. so we got that
covered.... as far a buying L39 now and selling the JD in spring.
Dont really know if i can set on both of them at once.....
That alot of Cheese.... by tradeing or saleing the JD , i would get close to hafe my money back. a lot of difference in 20 grand , and 40 grand...

Putting in about 300' of new driveway tomorrow with the CASE. Next week moving loads of fill dirt.

and yes i got all the pics you have posted carrying rocks around..
as i said. if it does all the things you do with it. it would surly handle
anything i need to do around my few little acers. quite impressive.

I bought an L39 last summer just for home use (14 acreas). Big chunk of change for that purpose but I'm very glad I went this route. I have 150 hrs on it - mostly clearer ground, digging ditches, digging stumps, moving fill and transplanting trees. Quite versatile and pretty strong for it's size. I haven't done the rock work you see in Mike pictures but I've ran it hard 8hrs at a time on multiple occasions without any problems. Good Luck!
