Valkyrie, are you happy with your 12 bucket or would you recommend a step up to 16? Glad to hear you豎*e happy with it I遏・ looking forward to getting mine!

I am happy with the 12 inch bucket, but I do more trenches and stuff, not a lot of big holes. One time I did dig around a six foot by six foot hole about 4 feet deep and I wished I had a larger bucket for that. With the soil I dig, I was nervous that the backhoe would not have the power to use the larger bucket. Even with the 12 inch bucket it often gets stopped by larger rocks on my property. I wish I knew someone with a larger bucket to try out on my specific backhoe as I would hate to buy a 16 or 18 inch and find out it was useless for me.

I would really like to get the Kioti thumb though as I also have a bunch of stone walls on my property that have fallen apart and the thumb would be nice to lift rocks and logs and stuff. If money were no object I am sure a hydraulic thumb would be awesome, but I am too cheap to spend that much money on one. The MIE thumb looks great and seems to be very well designed and well made if you decide to spend the money.

And Levi333 is using one for all around work on the same machine out in Oregon. I wonder what the digging I壇 like in Oregon?

We have a lot of clay, not a lot of rocks where I'm at. I dug a trench recently with the 9" bucket, works well until you hit a patch of clay, then you are prying it out by hand. But that seems to be pretty common with most buckets when you encounter clay.
It's still a LOT faster and less work than digging thru clay by hand with a shovel/post hole digger!

If you only want one bucket I'd go with the 16".

Thanks Levi.

I Had an email exchange with the dealer today, a bucket and dirt pads are included. You can choose any size from 9 up to 18. She said the default bucket size is........ 16” ..... So there it is! She said any of the smaller buckets go for less than 300 beans if I ever need to get one. What else am I overlooking?

I've had the KB 2475 with a 16" plenty of power to move earth, clay does get stuck in the smaller buckets and it's maddening. I now have a KB 2485 with the mech thumb, it works fine, hyd thumb is a must for an excavator but I don't use the hoe too often (5% of the time). But I'm always using the 1000lbs of rear weight it gives me. It gives you incredible stability when on side hills, can't get that from an implement, so although I use the hoe seldom I use the weight for traction and piece of mind every day. Also as they say your never stuck when you've got a hoe, got myself out of the mud 20 times when i would have needed a tow, as bad as I've been stuck I have always been able to pull myself out. Wouldn't own a CUT without one of these lifesavers.

So I’m still waiting. Apparently there is a wait on the subframe. The dealer expected them last week but they are still not in. Is anyone else having issues getting items into the dealership? I’m hoping to get some ditching done with the backhoe before I seed out a small field , I’m getting a little itchy to get on with it.

I am guessing it has to do with COVID-19 related issues. Lots of Shipping backups it seems on various products. If your really needing it, maybe your dealer can get one from a dealer that has in stock. May cost a bit more though depending on the relationship your dealer has with others in area.

This is what I’m thinking too. The dealer told me things had been unusual during this time (what hasn’t been unusual?) and she had backhoes but subframes were delayed. I’m just wondering if it’s just my desire to get the backhoe that’s making it seem worse than it really is.

When I got my 2610, they had the tractor on the lot but did not have the backhoe or subframe. They ended up delivering the tractor and then I got the backhoe a month after, maybe even a little longer.

They have the backhoe but apparently the subframes come separately and they do not have those .

I have a L2475 on my CK 27, it works good. The mechanical thumb is a bit of a pita to get set, but once it is set it is good for picking up just about everything.
When/if you remove the bh, do yourself a favour and drop it on perfectly level ground sub-frame and all.
