Thinking of a snow bucket

There is another post on here today plows are for roads and driveways, and pushers are for parking lots. Which are you doing?

I am thinking, snow pusher would be what I want.
How about wings that can convert a plow into a pusher?
Would that increase productivity?

It's been suggested. Post #4:

Blades are much more productive for snow than a bucket. The time lost dumping will never be made up. Have you thought of adding end plates to your blade? It will hold more than just the straight blade without sacrificing dump time

Very few on TBN seem to think a bucket is a good choice for snow removal. I am one of those very few. I believe the difference is the situation. My situation is that I clear several driveways (mix of gravel and asphalt) that have no room to put snow at the house end. so either a bucket or a blower is necessary at the house end. I've found for the relatively short runs on the drives that I plow (max 300 feet) scooping and dumping is minimal. On my current tractor I've been useing the standard 65" bucket which is around 15 cubic feet heaped. I'm looking at getting an 84" bucket that is about 45 cubic feet heaped. This will move snow much faster from the turn arounds near the house. It will also allow a single pass on the long part of the driveway instead of at least three now (one on each side and a 3rd to clean up the spill over from the second, would be just 2 passes with an angle plow or 1 with a larg angle plow). In short, I think I bucket can be a comparatively efficient option if you have limited places to stack snow, the bucket is as wide as the long lanes you are plowing and you have enough tractor to push it and lift it when full.

I looked up yoru loader specs on tractordata.com

Breakout force (at pin): 2,442 lbs [1107 kg]
Breakout force (at 500mm): 1,858 lbs [842 kg]
Breakout force (bucket): 2,134 lbs [967 kg]
Lift to full height (at pin): 1,142 lbs [518 kg]
Lift to full height (at 500mm): 853 lbs [386 kg]

Keep in mind that the bucket you are looking at is 27" high and 37" deep. Heaped capacity could be 50-60 cubic feet. At 30 pounds / cubic foot for the heaviest of snows, you are looking at heaped bucket weights of 1500 - 1800 pounds. Plus this bucket will weigh about 200 pounds more than the standard bucket on your tractor so that is 1700-1900 pounds. This weight will be centered about 500mm from the pin. With that bucket, you might be able to lift it off the ground heaped with heavy snow but may not be able to lift it very high. If you have light snow in your area don't worry about weight. You might have trouble curling the bucket sometimes - of course, you don't need to fill the bucket!

I think it's a lot of bucket for that tractor / loader combination but I'm dying to know how well it works for you. I'm still trying to sort out what size bucket to get from my DS4510HS and looking at similar buckets but probably 7 foot not 8 foot for me because the narrowest part of my drive is less than 8 feet.

I have to clean driveways, parking lots and a car dealership, where space is very limited.
Plow would be excellent for driveways. Bucket would be nice for a parking lot and car dealership, that I have to remove the snow, not just push it to the side.

Average snow is right about 20 pounds per cubic foot. Standard 100" light material bucket is right at 54 cubic foot, heaped, so a bit over 1,000 pounds. Light snow is much less.
I turned the pressure on my loader a bit over spec @ 2,650psi, so my loader can lift a bit over spec.

So, I am thinking of adding wings to bucket and purchasing a 96" bucket.
