This might be true to some degree but in the long run our living standard will suffer. In example India. Its population increased about six times in past 70 years. All the progress India made after gaining independence was wiped out by population increase. Want to buy an acre of land in India? You would have to be pretty rich to do so. Every country with uncontrolled population rise has poor standard of living.

It is true in all degree for the USA. If it was not for people coming to live in the USA we would a negative birth rate but thankfully we are treading water on that subject.

Social Security was set up to on average only pay out for a few years before the people were to be dead and off the take. We started living longer. Then the money was used of other things. Then the number of babies slowed so we have many on the take side and fewer than ever on the giving side.

By the way I think you need to review the standard of living changes over the past 100 years in India.

There are forces of nature that tend to keep any animal population in check however nature can seem cruel.

English as a language is loosing ground in the USA because the English speaking population does not have a positive birth rate. Look at what is happening all over western Europe today.

A negative birth rate in the USA will have a negative impact on our future.

You know how old you'll be when the kid is 20?

The same age you'd be if you had no children. I say go for it!!

I'm not so certain about the validity per your comment.

My mom and dad had a total of 20 siblings, all born in the U.S, but both set of grandparents came off the boat into the U.S in the 1900's.

When they (grandparents) came to the U.S, their native tongue was spoken in the house and in the church, but english was taught and demanded of the children to use outside of the house. Both sets of my grandparents came to the U.S to make a better life for themselves and for their families, and although they were proud of their Eastern European heritage, they were more proud to become US citizens.

English is no long accepted as the "national" language in the U.S because as a nation, we've become to politically correct as well as some other issues as far as "regulating" the flow of "immigrants" into our country IMO.

We want to make everyone happy, so no one cares what language is spoken out in public.
