we had a friend that had what you need .i dont know what to call it but it fit on 3 point hitch.on a small ac tractor it was made to put in gas lines.it was a single plow with a round opening for pipe .you tied it off to something solid it not only put pipe in the ground but it covered it up at the same time.this is and old attachment. but i also give you a plan b try a 3 point hitch potatoe plow a little more work but a lot cheaper than the rented one

Tiller idea doesn't clean the ditch out - not much benefit. Wheel with cutters would, though I'm not sure why it all goes to one side like in the video. Still seems like a middle buster or subsoiler plus a rack for roll of pipe (you weren't going to use rigid plastic?) would get you pretty far. You could drag a half loop of heavy chain behind the whole thing for backfilling.
Not as much fun as building a rotating tool, but you could be finished for less money and find some other way to have fun?

Tiller teeth attatched to a round plate would work. It would even clean out the trench if it had a crumber bar behind it. Ill post a pic of my homemade trencher I made fro ma 1 to 1 gear box and tillerteeth. China depot has a trencher based on a tiller.

THis is my little home built rig. It really needs to have a 1 to 1.5 like a brush hog gear box insted of 1to1. I could add a few more teeth but my wheel was cut for brazed teeth for another project. I will make another round wheel. Works perfect be hing a hydrostat or a different Yanmar with a super creeper gear. Ive used it on my YM3000 for 1 3/4 miles of trenching for my self and others. I mainly used it to cut a few hundred yards of trench for dug in specs silt fencing. I used it on a Yanmar with a super creeper gear and the L3130 dad used to have. It worked really good.

It also throws the dirt to one side of the trench the open side. I couldnt find the pic of the crumber bar. Its just a semi circular arm like a bike fender to scrap up any loose dirt. It will build up and the tines will deal with it. With out the crumber bar it will leave a fine ground layer of dirt about 1 inch deep in the hole. It cuts a hole 5 inches wide and 8 to 9 inches deep. I was getting 10 but I had to add a shoe for depth control on the fence laying.

Check out junk farm machinery. I have a couple off manure spreaders in inventory for future projects. One cost $15, the other was free for taking it off.

Good idea, might be just the ticket for this ole po boy.
