Has anyone added a wing plow for pushing back snow banks on a BX25?
I am thinking of using the right side Loader mount as the front attach point, the 2" receiver as the rear pivot point, and using te 3pt arm as the lift device.

Will this work?

Has anyone done this on a BX25? I see a green one here

I currently have a Meyer 6' 6" front plow, with the push bar bolted to the pivot points for the bucket.

I plow a 3000' road, and after last winter, I need to get the snow banks pushed up and out of the way.

First off WHY are you thinking about snow? Winter will surely come soon enough without thinking about it? Just kiddinng of course, giving you a little good natured ribbing.

As for fashioning a wing plow as you described, I would not recommend it. I would not want to stress the loader mounts in an unequal fashion. Snow can get pretty heavy and especially with a smaller tractor like your BX, that could put a lot of stress on the loader mounts. Loaders are really meant for loading and not digging on our tractors and there are lots of folks out there who have tried to use the loader for more aggressive stuff than it was intended for and have ended up doing damage to the loader subframe or worse yet to the tractor's engine block, etc. Since these aren't big agricultural tractors or even construction TLB's they just don't have the same frame toughness that the bigger rigs do. If you have to push snow far back, then maybe you should consider a front mount snowblower?

Takes a lot of momentum, power, and WEIGHT to move an old bank of snow. I've seen big weighted down plow trucks bounce off them like they were toys..especially with a blade sticking out the side. Make sure you are wearing your seat belt... :)

I would be pushing it back as I go. I would not be trying to move the set banks, without breaking them with the bucket first.

Not saying Bx won't do it but the stress I would think twice, more so heavy wet snow, instead plowing storm once may have plow during snow storm..."3000' " I would check out blower.

I disagree with ALL the posters here. you need to think BX, not your normal variety of tractors. His idea has merit. the loader mount, not the FEL part once its off is very strong. only thing is he would be relying on one mount, not two. The other issue is weight of wing plow. It will most likely tip the BX in direction of plow without counterweight.
I think smokey needs to use a lightweight backblade in the belly area and use same idea for mounting is thinking of using. This way the weight is closer to COG.

I gotta tell you though- a meyers plow mounted on BX is all it can handle due to weight. I should know since I did the same as you did with old truck plow on my BX. It does job, I just do an extra pass to push banks over before it freezes over with FEL raised a foot or so.

The plow I am looking at is a 48" plow off a wheelhorse. Weights about 50 lbs.

that just might work...

wouldn't a snow blower be easier, and maybe cheaper in the long run?

mind you I like the whole idea, just trying to be practical.
